Guy would you marry a girl who has male room-mate.
She claims its platonic. :halo:
She also talks about some teenage accident often.

Re: Male roommate
People, rather than making a mockery out of this thread - the guys should answer honestly. Would they trust the character of a desi girl who was room mates with a guy? Or is she automatically looked at with suspicion?

jesus!!!
what did you not understand.
She sleeps with him!!!!!

Why do think "character" is a given in case of """"desi"""" ppl???

Its more than a trust issue. I guess answer will depend on their religious views too.
Re: Male roommate
From my experience of closed-mindedness of the desi community (and I don’t exclude myself from the community), a girl will be assumed to be of bad character. After all, what kind of girl lives with a na-mehram guy (the horror!) She’d have to get a certificate from her gynecologist to prove her “izzat” was in tact.
But on the flip side, a guy living with a girl, the guy can explain away the living situation by saying it was platonic, no other room mate could be found, blah, blah, blah, and no further references (or medical examinations
) would be necessary.
Personally, I don’t agree with either co-ed living situation, BUT, it’s looked at as worse when it’s a desi/Pakistani girl living with a guy. This is where the double standard drives me crazy.

your story brings tears to my eyes, monk pai. :'(

Re: Male roommate
There was this widow Pakistani woman living with a Pakistani man as a room mate due to her poverty.Whole desi community had very bad image of her. I and my wife were the only ones who treated her with respect and bailed her out a couple of times when she needed some money to pay her bills. She used to pray regularly I did not find anything objectionable about her character or morals. I never met the room mate though.
People could not tolerate a matured desi woman living with desi male roommate how can they accept a young desi girl living as a roommate with male ?

No, I got your obvious references of her "living" and "sleeping" arrangements in your example. I'm just trying to take the thread further and draw parallels with the other thread about desi guys in a co-ed living situation where it's "platonic".
Monk, I'm trying to help your thread evolve :)

now you just threw that to make desi community looks bad.
Let me ask you, if you live in an area where halal meat is available in abundance, would you be able to justify your act of eating jhatka? Similarlym unless you are stranded at north pole where only shelter is of a male stranger, what is the justification of living with one otherwise. I mean I cant think of a single city in North America where you cant find a female roommate to live with, even then if the person chooses to live with a male, I think it says a lot about one's character.

I should have qualified my comment on closed-mindedness. The closed-mindedness is the assumptions that society is quick to jump to about the girl and yet forgive or excuse for the guy. If you'll note, I don't agree with either living arrangement.
But to your point, what does it say about a guy's character when he chooses to live with a girl - shouldn't it be the same as is for the girl?
