Do you guys know any male nurses who might be desi? How do you think this might be viewed? I am a male, nursing student with the future goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist ( couldn’t be bothered with 10 years of schooling and 300k in debt) and thus far I have not been viewed with any resentment, if anything I have been encouraged and complimented for going into the field as a guy.

I don't know any desi ones, but my nurse anesthetist was a male when I was having my baby. The one who actually put in the epidural was a female, but the one who took over and managed the medication was a male. No one even blinked an eye. I didn't think anything of it at all. My husband is a physician and says he sees many male nurses, especially anesthetists.

Well, that thought is pretty down the road but what makes you say that? It cant be the finances because nurses make good money, at least out here on the east coast.

My anesthetist was a desi male nurse (in US, also US born) ...he was super nice and kept trying to calm me down during my c-section. He didn't speak much Urdu and kept trying to tell me to imagine making roti ...I told him (yelled at him) that making roti isn't a calming for me. So he told me to imagine eating them :)...nothing wrong with it.

know many desi and nondesi male nurses in ER. quite accepted. no issues.

The best nurses are guys. Respectful and no drama and no complexes.

Yepp, we have a whole load of male nurses at our local hospital, a few desi ones aswell.
And to the person who says you may have difficulty findind a rishta- get a life! Why on earth would someone refuse a guy because hes a nurse when they have such a respectable profession and earn a comfortable amount? Jeeze....

Haha! I hope to be in that position one day- in the anesthetist's, just for clarity lol.

male nurses are much more helpful and understanding .. female nurses on the other hand don't know when to shut it

I dont know any desi male nurses but i know plenty of nondesi male nurses. nursing is a good profession, especially if you become NP or nurse anesthetist. they make around 130-150k in NY, pretty much the same salary as a family physician(not a specialist doctor). i dont see why this would cause a problem in rishta! how many engineers or IT guys make that much? i don't know any.

One of my cousins is a male nurse. He got married in Pakistan just fine.

True that. Male flight attendants are much more polite and helpful. Hostesses think they are owed some sort of special treatment. Badtameez aurtain.

A lot of people dont understand that. The first thing that cones to mind when hearing the words male nurse is either: meet the fockers or dostana if you watch bollywood lol

^ lol they are idiots. nurses make WAY more than engineers and they dont get laid off, and they can move anywhere pretty much. if you're marrying someone for financial reasons, then it's much smarter to marry a nurse than an engineer...

I said** IF** you’re marrying someone for financial reasons. didn’t say everyone does. and yes many people DO marry for that reason. many people dont consider themselves gold diggers but still prefer to marry guys who will provide them a good lifestyle and have a good salary. im sure some people marry purely for love and personality as well.
