Do you know how many vaginas they examine? Who wouldn't want that job?

Anyway, male gynecololists in desi land are less than female but not really true in other places.
it is a profession which involves many things not just examining the vaginas...(censor it if you want mods), it has to do with surgery, dealing with well being of women in general and seeing few things which are not even pretty.
It takes the aethetic sense away with time.
The question however is still valid. It has to do with the liking the field or the oppurtunity available.
Same reason, a female physician cannot be urologist? or proctologist?
There are men plastic surgeons who do breast implants, reconstruction or surgeries...just the matter of skill I guess.
And even in liberal society, some women do prefer women gyne/obs.

Sincerely, I know a bunch of them. Let's say, they are more than comfortable with female anatomy to begin with and nothing satisfies them more than to help women with their anatomy.

This was a few years ago but I had made an appointment with a gyno in our area. I was on their website and the doctor’s first name was Shannon. I thought it was a female…any normal person would.
I show up for my appointment and its a male. Dr Shannon something-something. Ohmigosh, the embarassment.
Anyway, I rescheduled the appointment with a female doc but as I was leaving one of the MA’s made a comment…she said something along the lines of “you girls are lucky”…I asked her why. She explained that gynecology has always been a male dominated field and when they were younger, they were always examined by males…females in gynecology is fairly recent. She laughed and said when we were pregnant, it was always a male doc…females just werent around.
I thought that was interesting

Ok so something I've always wondered and been curious about...I don't intend to poke fun or be condescending or anything...but why do men decide to go into gynecology?
I believe it's just a profession that they adopt. Like men becoming tailors of ladies outfits !!!! I bet many of us in Pakistan have a male darzi (tailor) rather than a female darzan :) It's a science and a subject which shows us miracles of Allah ......at least that's how I see it. If a man has interest in gynaecology and he can do some discoveries and development in it that can benefit the humanity ...then why not ?
But personally I would not be comfortable in consulting and male gynea and I have also never consulted any male gynea yet.
