Malcolm didnt try to enforce Islam on anyone, his post NOI doctrine was simple, promotion of true Islam as a counter to Elijah's sect which was based on absurd racism and totaly unIslamic principles.
He reformed himself as a man and as a muslim, one time drug dealer/pimp became the most articulate speaker in the world, earned himself higher education and brought TRUE Islam to the mainstream American people.
It is important to note that after Elijah's death in 1974, most the NOI went Malcolm's way.
