Malays in Singapore who think they're Pakistani

Its sad to see the local (Singapore) Pakistani community diminishing at such alarming rate. And by diminishing I mean marrying into another race, which usually is to Malays. We’re left with just a handful of Pakistani boys and loads of useless Singaporean Pakistani girls/women. I say useless because honestly, the Pakistani girls here are how shall I put it nicely.. “spoilt brats”. Indeed girls just wanna have fun but at what price?

So here comes a nice man from Lahore, looking for a woman to marry in Singapore and settle here with a good job. They get married and give them a year or two before the guy realizes what a mistake he made. What he expects in a wife, can never be found in a Singapore girl. I say this from my observation of 5 local women (mom’s friend’s daughters) who married Pakistani men and got divorced (by the guy) within a span of 2 years. Now what are the Pakistani girls here to do? Marry a Malay! :stuck_out_tongue: (atleast they’re Muslims)

About the Malays, (a race of people in Singapore and Malaysia). I’m not trying to discriminate but it irks me sometimes whenever I hear them call themselves Pakistanis. Perhaps their ancestors were from Pakistan but that was centuries ago. From which angle are they Pakistanis now when they don’t look like one, dont speak the language, eat the food, wear the clothes or have even been to Pakistan. They’ve adopted Malay customs like kissing the hand when saying salaam and wearing a “tudong” etc. I’d shrug it away if they weren’t so blatant in proudly proclaiming their not existent connection to being a Pakistani at all.

Do you agree?

Re: Malays in Singapore who think they're Pakistani

Ahhh atlast I met somebody from Singapore here :)(It's my one of the most favourite places and I am a frequent visitor). You should be happy that you could see atleast a few poeple saying that they are Pakistanis, inspite of the fact that they or their generations have been living there for ages. But this situation is not as worst as Indians telling(even if they are there for a few years or they may be the first generation)they are pure Singaporeans,or locals and India ...sort of yes, visited once!!!
