Re: Malala Yousufzai attacked
The problem with Fuzlullah is a recent phenomena. The Taliban as a presence in PAKISTAN has existed for nearly ten years now. Using the American inaction to justify ten years of Pakistani dithering is disingenuous. I mean, how do you excuse the first 8 years? Pakistan has begged, pleaded, coerced, co-opted, threatened, blowing hot and cold, but did nothing to effectively end the Taliban threat, doing everything possible to contain the Taliban or persuade them to only attack Afghanistan and leave Pak alone. I mean imagine what the reposnse have been if the marriot attack in iSLAMABAD that killed 60 people, were in London. That alone would have meant all out war. Leave alone all their other attacks that killed people in the dozens.
Besides this, what makes you think the Americans have full control on Afghanistan? I dont even recall the last time the Americans did any major offensive against the Taliban. The Taliban are apparently back in control in large parts of the South.
And another thing, why do you think the Americans would even be so anxious to help out the Pakistanis now? The Americans have been giving billions to the Pak govt with the expectations that they would do something about those terrorists on the pak, the Americans have lost god knows how many soldiers to Taliban who are apparently hiding in Pak. Now why should the Americans feel so obliged to risk their own soldiers fighting to support a country that has been double dealing for the past ten years now? Pay back as they say, is a B…ch…
Im not saying its right, but perhaps that is the feeling among Americans. They might decide to go after Fuzlullah at some point, but there not going to be in any hurry.
And there was me thinking Americans were out to eliminate terrorists wherever they are and especially in Afghanistan Now I know that they only want to eliminate terrorists in FATA and the ones living and killing right under their noses is not their problem. Maybe they are part of the good Taliban which the Americans are always talking about.
