Re: Malala Yousufzai attacked
Ofcourse we dont want his party workers getting killed.. Who would vote for him if they were?
All of you who oppose drone attacks, be honest with yourself. Consider the following.
-
The Taliban are evil incarnate. They have killed and will kill far more people then any drone ever will.
-
Their badmashi will leave a lasting mark upon the fabric of society. There existence is a far bigger threat to the long term prosperity of Pakistan then any drone will ever be.
-
As far as “sovereignty” of Pakistan is concerned, stop fooling yourselves. Pakistan has effectively ZERO control over those areas controlled by the terrorists. North Waziristan, and in fact, many parts outside of N Waziristan are no longer effectively controlled by the state.
-
The Pakistan army is not willing to do its job. The Pak govt and opposition are all cowards and incompetent to boot. The intelligence is neurotic, with half of them trying to bring about the caliphate, humiliate America and liberate Kashmir at any cost, and the other half making sure journalists remain in line.
-
The anger at drone strikes is misplaced. Any war, will result in casualties. You are fooling yourself. The people here who condemn the drone strikes but demand the Pakistani govt and army go in and clean up the place are deluding themselves if they think the Pak Army can do the job without an casualties… Its a guarantee that if the Pakistan army had effective intelligence they to would use aerial assaults. No one would risk the lives of soldiers if the could take out a target with aerial assaults. Would it be any different if the areial assaults were done by the PAF? Or if the drones were controlled by Pakistanis themselves? The opposition seems to be more against the fact that its Americans doing the killing. Had it been done by the Pakistanis themselves, then that would be ok somehow? We can kill our own people thank you very much!
-
The drone strikes are conducted by the US because the Pakistani establishment does not allow ground soldiers into the tribal belt. The terrorists go into Afghanistan, attack and kill Afghans, run across the border and do all this with impunity? Then when the US ask’s the Pak govt to take care of the problem, they refuse! So whats the solution? Just let these terrorists go scot free?
-
Either the Pak govt should send in the Army, (or Army send itself in), or let the US take care of the situation. If you do not allow the US to send in ground soldiers, then all thats left are drone strikes, which kill militants, even as the kill civilians. Either way, Pak soldiers, US soldiers, drones or airforce jets, this is war, and people will die. If you want to fight, then get ready for some hard realities, otherwise, sit back and shut up while the Taliban kill more civilians, more Shias, more police, soldiers, bomb more schools, shrines and destroy more of your country.

The only valid argument any of you might have is that drone attacks produce more not less Taliban. Well, regardless of how this war is tackled, there wil be casualties and the potential for more Taliban. At the end of the day, there is no way to save people from losing loved ones in war. It will happen. The question is, how do you conduct this war most effectively, and with the fewest casualties. The question isnt one of drones or no drones, its question of drones or something else.
