Malala comes home

Re: Malala comes home

I think any political leaders or social activists that are doing any good for Pakistan in today’s age should be lifted and considered emerging “Qaed e Azams” Let’s be real here…its not like the country is brimming with them so the few that actually are tough enough to live to tell about their horrors should definitely be celebrated.

Majority of the time, the objections against Malala stem from a deep sense of inadequacy in people.

“Why should she get attention when she isn’t any better than me?” “What makes her better than anyone else?” “Why should she get any attention for being shot in the head when people die everyday?” “Why are people so obsessed with an obvious Western agent who is America’s puppet?”

The thing is, she IS better because she survived, was able to stand up on her own two feet again, spoke out against it and is living her life pursuing her educational goals. So yes, that makes her better than most because I don’t actually see many men who have to fight against cultural stereotypes to go to school. And if there are such men out there, their stories are not highlighted because its not important for the Pakistani awam to listen to them. That is not Malala’s doing.

If Malala was a hot blonde, she would have every single Pakistani mullah’s support. She would be considered a fashion icon between women and upheld as the ideal of every man out there.
