Rescue of a Hajjan during the Makkah Rain Storm:
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
wasnt there a storm like this in early days also that flooded the mecca?
I remember seeing some BW pictures of that. If anyone has them please post em also.
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
Is that really Makkah? And can someone also answer furqan's question, as Im also curious about that. Just look at the water level, it looks just like those aftermath tsunami pictures.
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm…
What exactly is furqan’s question? I don’t get what he means by early days?
You can’t really compare a little rain to a Tsunami!
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm…
There was a big flood in Mecca earlier this century. The Kaaba was over half-submerged
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
flooding in a desert?
They have the money to build KFC , but not a good drainage system?
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
Thats No way Near Masjid Haram in Makkah. Must be some other part of the region within Saudia.

Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm…
Do you ask the the same questions when Phoenix is flooded, since US might have more money and KFC’s than the whole arebian peninsula.
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
It is really Makkah and it really happened. My dad and bro were caught in it and nearly died. I have some pics they took with my camera. It was a very scary day for all of us.
I'll post it in the Travel forum soon.
Yes, it happened in Makkah. Those of us who were there saw up to one foot of water INSIDE the masjid around the Kabaa. Why do you think the arabs were all dancing and rejoicing on the street when it was raining? Cause it never rains in Saudi and they thought the rain automatically means everybody's Hajj was approved and accepted by God.
Believe me, the area of Mina was even worse. All the people who had gone for the stoning were caught in the flash floods and there were stampedes ... and yes, people were trampled.
If you think about it, Arabia is all desert. There is no soil to absorb the water. You should have seen the way it came down the street .... down the mountains and then literally knocking people over. I've never in my life seen rain like that.

Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
During one of the Umra saadat,, I had a 1st hand experienced of the power of rain water.
My car was at high slop on a newly contructed 3 tower hotel. which had a desend so steep
that on the side walk there were steps to climb up and down.
City of Mecca is surrounded by high rocky hills and continues valleys leading to one mega big valley where the ancient city and the Masjid-ul-haram is located.
It rains a lot in mecca,,, so the rain water from different valleys gather here and cause havoc to daily life and the civic services.
Ps: Mecca city has one the most sophisticated and functional drainage system in the world.
despite this the sheer water power and volume cannot compete with it.
The water recedes very fast and with 12-24 hours at most.
The experience of Holly Kaba getting pouring rain wash is awesome in the night lights
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
Thats the** first time I Have ever seen flood in Makkah**
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm…
Are you sure you are looking at the same pictures as the rest of us? You can clearly tell its an arab country.
Re: Makkah after the Rain Storm...
Rain and flash storms are normal in Mecca area along with the adjacent area.
Its just that the water receds very fast and 'Masjid ul Haram never gets flooded as was the case in the past. ( Read my post above as well)
