All you moms living in NA how did you make your kids’ head gol… I mean shape it round… what all stuff did you use.
I checked babies r us stores around me but they do not carry the pillow that can be used to shape the baby’s head…

I used something like this

Other than that, my mom just used to keep changing her side, that is if she would be sleeping with her head on the right side, mom would gently turn it to the left after a while. Thats all that we did.

The recommend that you don't use anything under the baby's head. The shape of the baby's head will form when the baby turns his/her head while sleeping.
But with us kids, my mom used a rice pillow. Bascially it's just a small sized pillow with rice filled inside of it. It just ensures that the back of the baby's head has a round circular shape. But at the end of the day, its up to you and what you feel comfortable with.

most babies are good at changing their heads but some are hell bent on keeping their heads in one angle...
some ppl even leave their babies to play around on the floor on a thing quilt... that helps too..

yeah i keep changing the side my daughter puts her head on
and she has a habit of keeping it to the right so i have to keep an eye on her during the day.

My mom got me one of those pillows from Pakistan …which are round and have a depression in the center…(something like the one in the toys r us link..)…but my daughter hardly ever slept on it…
she used to roll to either side ever since she was a newborn baby…
a few days ago someone complemented me on what a nice job I had done shaping her head …I did say thanks,but honestly I never did anything..!!
Smilestar..:I have heard of rice pillows and know someone who used it for their baby last year.
Another thing I want to ask…when our daughter was born my husband was very much worried about shaping her head and he was the only person I heard this from ,that you have to place the child’s head in a plate to make it flat…and that my MIL and every one in their family did that to newborn kids.
Isn’t the objective to make the head round…??..
anyone else ever heard of it…??
and oh btw when I checked my husband’s head,it was flat on the back…

lol hahaha... i have heard the plate thing... but we dont do that.. its too drastic...
we have that pillow or we just leave the baby to play around on the floor under the activity mat...
i never bothered shaping my son's head... he was just very active as a newborn so i had the jungle at .. i used to leave him on that... and before i know it.. he had a perfect gol head :D

Bunny's head has a beautiful gol shape too, mashAllah. I myself was surprised. We didn't do anything, the she was usually asleep on a pillow during the day. Mil would usually put her on one side or another.

chipsy.. you need to see my head.. it's FLAT.. I was born in sindh and people there are very keen on making the head shape so my mom was told to put a saucer under my head and that I must sleep in the jhoola at all times to make it flat.. she had no choice but to do so!
I will never torture my lil ones liek that.. their born head will be their head forever.. mommy had it tough :D

Why put your baby through all this 
? There is absolutely no need to make additional effort to make your baby’s head round…it will, by itself. Trust me. Do Americans do it? Are they heads conical?

Good Lord. Leave their heads alone! Worry about shaping their minds! In the West, we don't torture our babies craniums. I'm sorry but that is just RIDICULOUS!! What's next - gonna bind their feet like the Chinese used to do? Or put rings of brass around their necks to "elongate" them like the old Burmese custom? Sheesh. God already made you perfect. No need for additional holes or tattoos, either!

u think thats bad a family frnds MIL once told us that she used to tie heavy stones even bicks if need be to the babies head whilst they were slping :D mind u she said 'hamare jungli esay bachay ka sar banathay thay' (she said it in punjabi)
why am i not surprised
I just used & still use a pillow with a hole. Very similar to the one MIAinVA mentioned.
My daughter's head was a little flat till she was 4-5 months old. Doctor blamed it on her premature birth. I was very worried about it and took her to several doctors. I also took her to a ped neurologist and he explained it very well to me. He told me not to worry and wait till she starts rolling over. He told me that if 1 or 2 months her head is same then I should bring her again to him. But Alhamdolillah ever since my daughter has started rolling over from back to tummy & tummy to back her head shaped has become so better and now is gol gol :D You can not even tell if she had a little flat head in the beginning.
I agree with everyone , keep on changing sides and when the baby will starts rolling over & starts crawling the shape of the head will automatically become gol.

I wasn't gonna answer to all of you who thought this was being done for vanity purposes but my reason for doing this is just so he doesn't have any soft spot.
My hubby's head was not made gol and he has this soft spot on the back of his head....it is the same with other siblings of his but the kids whose mothers tried to make the head gol theirs heads don't have that spot. I was just told that his was due to being left as is.....
And I would not go to the lengths of hurting my child, I just was looking for ideas t of putting something soft and cushioning under his head or on the sides. Nothing drastic like some of you guys have mentioned...

my daughter’s father head is also flat and many other members in his family like nephew etc have flat heads. with my daughter I was thinking that may be it’s genetic but like I said her head shape is fine now. don’t worry & just ignore …you don’t need to take any tension right now

I never believed in this myself, I never did anything to try and 'shape' my newborns head, untill I realized that his head was gettin pretty flat on one side.
Some babies are pretty ziddy about sleeping on one of their sides, either left or right, and this can mess up the shape of their head.
Even in the 'west' people try to shape the newborns heads. google it if you'd like.
