Making puri's with regular wheat flour

Has anyone ever made puri’s with regular whole wheat flour? They’re supposed to be made from atta which technically is a mix of wheat flour and all purpose flour, but i was wondering if it would make a huge difference to the taste and texture if I just used regular whole wheat flour from the grocery store?

Re: Making puri’s with regular wheat flour

yes the colour and texture is different , its more softer. since my daughter loves having poori I quiet often make poori from regular whole wheat flour for her.

Re: Making puri’s with regular wheat flour

but the softer version still tastes good right?

Re: Making puri’s with regular wheat flour

I’ve made it with regular whole wheat ata. They taste just as good as maida ones, and are definitely softer.

Re: Making puri’s with regular wheat flour

I think it might be a personal choice .. many members in my family only like maida poori’s while some others prefer whole wheat flour poori’s .. both do differ in taste and texture slightly..

Why dont you try some with whole wheat flour and see if you like the texture …

I don’t know how to make um from ata, I use Flour tortilla, the smaller version. Its never as good as I used to eat in Pakistan…
