making Java apps?

How hard/easy is it to make java apps? Is previous knowledge of any kind of computing required?

Can someone who has no knowledge of programming learn it from a book?

Although i was not a computer novice, i had no previous knowledge of any techincal computing. After leaving the Forces, i got married and during pregnancy, i began teaching myself about the Computer Science field.

Progreamming is NOT HARD!! My friends who are software engineers always say that 'oh it is so hard and complicated, you would not understand'. ... BUT i taught myself through books, online tools and resources.. so if i can do it, anybody can :)

I started off with BASIC, then VB, then C++, which then made it easier for me to understand Java (because Java uses a lot of C++ structure).

If you're really interested in Java, download the JDK and get playing with it!

If you know some Java, then it's easier. If you don't know, it'll be harder. It also depends on what exactly you're trying to make.

Well learning Java Programming is an easy-to-follow but step-by-step process The main obstacle, when it comes to learn object-oriented programming is the volume of interdependent detail that needs to be learned before even the simplest program can be created.

If you can use a spiral approach, eliminate the extraneous details early on and stresses on object concepts , I hope that will provide a base and help you become an expert Java programmer.

And if you really want to master Java, it's not enough to know the code. You must begin to think like a programmer… avoid the traps and pitfalls of commonly misunderstood subtleties of the language and focus on the language and its most fundamental libraries: java.lang, java.util, and, to a lesser extent, java.util.concurrent and java.io
