Making Dua

When I was like 11 or something, I remember hearing from somewhere that if we don’t recite Durood Shareef** before and after** making dua, our dua gets stuck between the sky and earth… and isn’t accepted :konfused:

I mentioned this to one of my friends and she mentioned this at her home… she came back the next day to tell me that reciting Durood Shareef is important but either before or after making dua will do… i.e. we don’t have to recite it twice (before and after)

And then there are some who say making dua sincerely will be accepted by Allah swt, whether u recite Durood Shareef or not, whether you are in wudu or not…

So.. which one is it??

anyone?

Re: Making Dua

It is not important to read Durood with Dua but the reason being is that when you recite Durood, angels are obligated to take that durood to prophet :saw2: and allah swt. If you sandwich your dua in between duroods, they will have no choice but to take your dua with them (at least this the reason why general public does that, whether it happens or not is questionable)

But this is not to say that a stand alone dua cannot be accepted.

ahh that makes sense! Thanks! :)

Its Zawal time.. we can’t even pray namaz or read Quran that time…

no, zawal time is when zhur starts, your mixing up istiwa time (that's where praying is forbidden)

Re: Making Dua

^ even then, there is no makrooh time to do dua.

please elaborate, as i do not understand these two terms :)

JazakAllah khair in advance

Re: Making Dua

Can you guys help out urgently?? My frend has asked me to make her wedding program for this Saturday. Unfortunately her Daadi passed away last week. She wants a little paragraph in memory of her daadi...something like... "We would like to take a moment to reflect on the passing of our Grandmother. May Allah.................."

I can't think of anything that will fit in there.
- grant her Jannat. Ameen?

Suggestions please!

In actual fact, the word "zawal" literally means the time when the sun moves away from its central meridian and not time it is at its meridian as commonly mistaken. Zawal is the time when Zuhr begins and not the forbidden time (see Radd al-Muhtar).
"Istiwa'" on the other hand is the time when the sun is at its highest peak at noon when it is impermissible to perform prayer. People mistakenly refer to this as the time of zawal.
Hence, the time for istiwa' or the period in which the sun is at its zenith and prayer is forbidden is in reality a very momentary period and cannot be counted in minutes or pinpointed accurately by everyone. Hence, the jurists, out of caution, include a few minutes from either side of it to be the forbidden time for prayer. Therefore, prayer must be avoided for approximately 3-5 minutes before noon and 3-5 minutes after noon, noon being the half way point between sunrise and sunset.

And Allah knows best.

and yes TLK is right, it's only prayer that is impermissible during this time but everything from dua and zikr is allowed and encouraged..
