making a round head???

my son is just 8 weeks, but his head is still long and not round as i want to make it.any suggestion to make it so?

I know there's a certain way desi aunties put the head of the baby on the pillow... supposedly gives a higher forehead, nicer head... shrugs

put his head on a salad plate and make sure he is on his back and not turning head

my sil had a baby, hes 3 weeks and 4 days old, and his head was very long when he was born (got stretched during birth), we tried the following advice from my mum as well as relatives and now its looking more round:

  1. when the baby sleeps, ensure its head is straight - put a small blanket or something to hold it from turning left or right. do not let baby's head turn to either side, should always be straight.
  2. do not hold the baby for longer then you need, only for feeds/nappy change/bath is fine, all other times you should leave it in its crib, on the bed etc
  3. when breast feeding the baby: using left hand hold baby and with right hand press fingers on the right hand side of baby's forehead and slightly hold back (not in the middle but more on the side) this is to ensure its gets a fuller round face....and vice versa

try the above but be patient you should start to see difference in a matter of weeks, but you will have to stop holding the baby, as well guests/family etc...

when baby is sleeping, ensure that he/she remains on his/her back and not on his/her side.

take a tea-cup saucer and wrap in small face cloth or receiving blanket so that the curve/depth is still noticeable. place this wrapped saucer under the baby's head. this should help to create the rounded shape that you are looking for.

all of this should be done immediately after birth....especially in the first few weeks as the skull bones are not yet set and can be molded easily.

the later you start the harder it is to accomplish.

i have heard that ...slipping hands on baby's head with love make it longer..cannot belive it...

i think bouncer is the best thing to make the babys head round.well that is what i use wid my kid.

What the hell? You want to MAKE your sons head round and not long? That's the craziest thing I've ever heard!

You can't do anything to change it! That's just how he was made! I can't believe I'm reading this! :(

lol. A baby's head is vey soft when they are born. And if not careful, you can end up with a baby who has a lopsided head. So she's not being suprficial or nything. Her concern is genuine. :p

i am using a small pillow filled with raw rice for my baby

There are many pillows available in the market for this purpose

Check them at ur nearest Chicco **or Mother Care** stores

alhamdullilah.his head is much better now.i just gently press his forehead n back on the pillow. after 4/5 times of 5 mins. duration now its better.

Are you serious?????? You know baby can hurt himself pretty bad by accident!
