Making a deal with God

Is it wrong/haram/sinful to make a deal with God

for example, if you grant me this dua I will pray so many nafil/keep x number of fasts/give an x amount to charity.

Re: Making a deal with God

**no, its NOT a deal..it's called mannat...you phrase your request to Allah like this:

O Allah, You are the absolute power over everything and You are are the fulsiller of all the legal [jaa'iz] wishes and needs and since i would like this or that to happen in my life OR i would like to have this or that in my life so please fulfill my wishes ONLY IF it's in my best interest. i promise You, O Allah!, that if my wishes are fulfilled, i would do this this and this [like do nawafil namaaz, keeping a fast, donating money to poor or perform some social work etc].

it's important that you ONLY ask for JAAIZ things [islamically permissable] and once you make a promise to Allah and ur wishes are fulfilled then you must follow thru what you promised Him.**

Re: Making a deal with God

hahaahh what a joke

why is god so attention hungry that you think he will grant you stuff if you praise him more?

Re: Making a deal with God

what if those wishes are not fulfilled, do we not do those nawafils etc?

Re: Making a deal with God

*you don't have to...it was conditional...but, if you do it then you get sawaab of course. it's more like shukraana adaayegii. *

Re: Making a deal with God

thanks!

Re: Making a deal with God

Yeah even if your wish is not fulfilled, you should still go through with your promise. Allah has bigger and better plans for us so if it was not fulfilled, it means it wasn't the best thing for you at that time

Re: Making a deal with God

Why is this any of your concern if your not a muslim? seems like your attention-hungry bud

Re: Making a deal with God

To me you seem like attention hungry , because you are repeating thousands of years old argument in front of those who already have this belief that Allah is worthy of praise .
You should tell this argument in front of naive audience. :silly:

Re: Making a deal with God

Peace sharaabee

Another way to answer this question other than simply Allah is deserving of worship is to consider actually that worshipping Him or not does Him no benefit or harm.

Rather since Allah Loves us so much there is every excuse for Him to enable us to worship Him more for our own sakes, because we gain in worshipping Him. So really Allah (SWT) enables us to worship Him by fulfilling our du’a, which He also enabled. Some people cannot even ask from Allah (SWT) because He has distanced His love from their hearts so they neither think of Him as deserving of worship nor think it of any use to ask Him to fulfil their du’as … such people are in a bad place indeed and they don’t even realise it.

So God is not attention hungry to grant on account of more praise, but God is so Merciful that if a person promises to worship more then Allah (SWT) enables that for the sake of his slave - in order for the slave to gain more benefit from praising God more.

Please look at this video:

Praising a king is unlike praising God, when you praise the king … the king benefits from the praise and returns the praise with kindness … when you praise God … God gives you the benefit of the praise by raising your ranks of piety and delivers kindness on you more generously than any king.
