Makin' Rotis

Is it possible to make rotis on a non-stick skillet instead of a tau? (I don’t know what the urdu word is for the iron skillet that you make rotis on)

Re: Makin' Rotis

my mom calls it a tava?

and she uses a flat non-stick one...is that what you're talking about?

Re: Makin' Rotis

I make mine in a non-stick frying pan .... works beautifully. I just have to be a bit careful not to burn my wrist on the edge of the pan as I reach in to turn the chapati.

Re: Makin' Rotis

I know what a tau or tawa is. My mom uses one to make rotis and paratas. I want to try making them on a non-stick skillet or frying pan like : [thumb=H]11939352182_2637489.JPG[/thumb]

Althea....you don't have any problems making them in a frying pan?

Re: Makin' Rotis

It works actually but like Althea said becareful of the edge.

Re: Makin' Rotis

On the rare occasions that I do make chapattis then I use a heavy duty non stick frying pan too......but usually they're tiny as I'm scared of burning myself on the edge of the pan.

Re: Makin' Rotis

We use a flat one like 714 is talking abt. I am sure you could use a frying pan too but for me it would be too wierd to use that because of the higher edges.

Re: Makin' Rotis

put a lil bit of oil in the atta.. hopefully the roti wont stick to the tawa that way :) fryign pans scare me

Re: Makin' Rotis

ermm...can't we use a spatula for flippin??
