im getting my shadi makeup done by 5 (for photographer session) and the wedding will go onto 12 -1 am. Does the bridal makeup really last that long? I know that after a few hrs my face will get oily by the time its like 8 or 9 and the reception starts.
Did anyone bring any makeup / or planning on bringing makeup with you in your purse at the wedding or do any touchups? any tips?
But i suppose if you wud tell yr makeup artist about yr skin type he/she wl do yr makeup accordingly. For example: u would probably need a primer and/or toner undearneath yr based to control the oil.
that sounded like 5 makeup artists from whom u are getting ur makeup done....its 5 am...hmmm as for your question no idea sorry...maybe go for waterproof stuff?
It should last that long...I havent really seen anyone melt yet.
If you think you might spend a long time in your make up, then make sure your bridal clutch or purse has a touch up kit in it. Ask your MUA what colors she will be using during your trial...have blotting papers with you, gloss and lipstick.
TorontoGirl, makeup does start to wear off no matter how professional the application, it's just one of those things. I think a poster before me mentioned telling the makeup artist your skin type, and that is so true.
Also, when you go for your trial, you can ask what shade of lipstick she will use, and try and get the same one for touch-ups. Check if the makeup artist uses a good base for the eyeshadow (eyeshadow primer) and also if they touch up the makeup at the end with something like MAC Fix+ to make sure it stays on. It doesn't have to be MAC, but if you are the type that makeup comes off, they should use something.
keep oil blotting wipes handy, because there's gonna be lots of lights, and even if you are the most unsweaty person ever, you'll probably sweat a little makeup off. If you're not carrying a purse, a sister or friend can keep everything for you.
Also, if you have oily skin, use a good toner after you wash your face the morning of the wedding so that way there's less oils for the makeup to slip off.
For my photoshoot I had my makeup done at 12 noon, and then my wedding started at 6, and I had my rukhsati at 12midnight. My makeup lasted throughout the whole evening, except my lipstick. I got my makeup done by Shirley Wu, and she gave me a lipliner (it was almost done, so she gave me the one she used on me), and also a piece of the lipstick she used on me (in the cover of my false eyelashes). I put that in my clutch, and just re-applied when I needed it during the wedding. The only time the rest of my makeup started to come off was when I had my rukhsati. My eyeliner came off a bit, and because I was blowing my nose, some of the foundation came off my nose.
But if your makeup artist is using good quality makeup, you shouldnt see any major difference from the time you get it done, until the end of the night.
The make up won't wear off. I have seen brides get ready by 5 and their weddings went long into the night, but no make up came off. Even in my case, my lisptick comes off in record time, but even I didn't have that problem at my wedding. For oily skin, wash your face with besan(gram flour) before heading to the salon. Try it at home first a few weeks before the wedding to see how your skin reacts to the besan.
Try using tea tree oil on ur face at night, like like a week before or two weeks before, its anti bacterial and also controls oil, u could also mix a few drops in ur moisturiser on the day.
All the girls have given excellent suggestions. I think you will be just fine.
As someone else mentioned, do keep a packet of oil blotting paper on hand (I prefer the organic rice paper without powder). And make sure to blot periodically (blot, don't wipe). This is excellent at removing excess oils whilst leaving the makeup on, plus it doesn't add extra powder on so you don't end up looking cakey.
