i dont like to wear eyeshadows or mascara but i like to wear lipstick and gloss. i usually find good shades in lipsticks but it is SO hard for me to find a shade of lipgloss that suits me. i have medium to light skin which tans to medium in the summer and slightly full lips so if i wear pink lip gloss which i adore on other girls my lips look like balloons ![]()
anyone has some tips on good shades for desi skintones…yellow undertones that is…
Re: makeup....lipgloss
i'm not sure what shades you should wear but check out the lip gloss by laura mercier... they have many different shades you can try out and it makes your lips look amazing.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
Mix colors, I usually have to combine two colors to get the perfect shade. I have to agree with Shazi, I love Laura Mercier products and Mac.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
mac has good eyeshadows but their foundation is horrible it always makes you look darker.
Re: makeup…lipgloss
Haan, I only like bare minerals and lancom foundation.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
r u serious?? Theres so many colors out there! Let me find the exact shades n pics or osmething
Re: makeup....lipgloss
prescriptives foudation is really superb
Re: makeup…lipgloss
For lipgloss, I think Estee Lauder came out with the best ones - they weren’t thick like they type you find in every brand (nearly). But they discontinued that line, and brought in the gooey lipglosses…
I like the light wet kind. The gooey ones make me feel so uncomfy cuz when I press my lips…they stick as if glued for a split second, and then make imprints in the gloss. ![]()
I think Victoria Secret lip gloss (the ones that come in the little tubs) are good. Not there stick-applicator sort though - that’s also gooey.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
elizebeth arden lip gloss is very good too it has wide range of colors and quality is also very good
Re: makeup…lipgloss
But you’re right trying to find the type that goes well on our skin tone is hard - many of these lipglosses, and much else of the make I see out here is made for the white-skin. (I once told a make-up sales lady off in Macy’s about that…I sat there the whole day and tried on EVERY color on the counter and I found only ONE lipstick - out of glossy’s and lipsticks - that sorta suited me - and then I went home and looked under the home light and found that it actually looked horrid).
There used to be this one make up brand - borgeous (sp?) - I dont know if its still out - they closed it at our local macy’s. They had good various shades.
You know what is also a problem that I’ve had - eyeshadows. I just can’t figure out how to get these shades to actually show brightly on my eyes. ![]()
Re: makeup....lipgloss
Bourgoius really does have good shades, atleast in blushers and eyeshadows. Dunno about lipglosses.
I personally use and adore Almay Whipped Lip Gloss in Shining Bare for minimal glittery and shine with a natural look. Also good are Loreal's Endless Liquid. you can wear the color thin enough for a hint of color or darker.
There are plenty of lip colors out there you can try. I try to buy darker colors becuz they come out lighter on our skin tone anyways. If y ou buy nude shades, you might end up looking like you are sick!
For foundation, i hear MAC has pretty good shades but i hear people breakout when they use MAC's foundations.
Re: makeup…lipgloss
PCG Bourgoius as mentioned by you has good shades. Also Milani avalible at walgreens also has nice colors . Milani is a line made for African American women. Bourgouis is avalible at any Ulta store.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
PyariCgudia > haha what a cute post! I don't like "gooey lipglosses" either.

Oh, I wanted to add that a primer might help make the eye shadow more visible....I read it in a magazine...let me see if I have it...okay it's talking about creases but it might help your problem too:
Eye Shadow That Creases: The color you applied to your lids has converged into a line
If creasing is a common problem, invest in an eye-makeup primer. It will ensure a clean, dry palette and give the shadow something to adhere to. "It's like putty, and it will prevent creasing," says Wade. Avoid cream shadows, which come by their sheen through extra oils.
Re: makeup…lipgloss
lolzzz i have the same problem…i went to the prescriptives counter and got my skin tone and all figured out…the lady recommended a light pink lipstick to me that looked so pretty on me in the macy’s mirror and lighting but when i got home and tried it on i thought i looked sick! i religiously go to duane reade to check out cheaper shades of gloss so i can find out what looks good.
i think somebody mentioned milani cosmetics i have been wanting to try their glosses since they are made for darker skin tones… has anybody tried their lipsticks?
Re: makeup....lipgloss
i have the same problem: i can't get the eye shadows to show brightly.
PR: primer sounds like something you use on your walls before you paint ;) good idea tho a bit of concealer of foundation on the lids might do the same thing.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
i don't know what primer is but if you really want the eyeshadows to show then try buying MAC pigments....these are what the professionals use when they do makeup for magazines. i bought some and i love them.
Re: makeup....lipgloss
I say try Annabelles LeGloss...its pretty good n they got some decent shades
Re: makeup....lipgloss
hmm i never heard that name before...
Re: makeup....lipgloss
I use Bourgois, but a colour that will always suit is just the gloss itself, without a colour. :)
Re: makeup…lipgloss
LOL
okay, try mauve. it’s the loveliest color for all the skin tones.
