Makeup help

There’s a wedding that’s going to start at noon and go on till late night (don’t ask) and I need a good foundation. We’re going to be in the sun for quite some time and it will be hot. I’ve tried foundations from the drugstore and they all cake after a while. I don’t have a problem spending $30 on a foundation but it needs to be worth it. I’m looking into MAC Face and Body because it’s buildable and I heard it’s natural. I don’t want my face to turn cakey 3 hours later. Any opinions on this foundation? Or another one?

Also, the walima outfit is similar to this in color. What eye shadow and lip color do you wear with such an outfit? Do I go with a silver/smoky eye and pink lips, or keep it nude?

Thank you!

Re: Makeup help

IMO, the outfit has a lot going and is on the darker side, so keeping the eyes simple (winged liner, falsies, mascara) and a pop of lip color will make face stand out.

Wish I could help you with the makeup problem, but haven't worn MAC for an extended period of time. You might wanna test out primers as well, along with the foundations. I've seen a review on the 24 hr color stay by Revlon, raving it lasts for 8 hours. Again, I haven't tried it out myself. Best wishes!

Re: Makeup help

I personally would wear a pink/mauve colour matte or gloss and would have a smokey eye with a shimmery silver or gold eyeshadow, as the event will last till night the shimmer on the eye lids will look flattering especially in pictures! NARS foundation is supposed to be amazing it doesn't oxidize plus skin looks dewy and healthy, it provides full coverage without the cakey look.

Re: Makeup help

It won't matter what foundation you go with if you don't use a proper primer. Start with a good primer end then when your makeup application is complete, finish with Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray.

Waisay, I also am a huge fan of NARS foundations. I use NARS Sheer Glow, which is very buildable, and on me at least, never oxidizes like MAC foundations do.

Re: Makeup help

I always read about people experiencing oxidising with MAC foundations but I've personally never experienced this. I wonder if it's just certain foundations?! I use the Studio Fix.

Re: Makeup help

Use Primer, setting powder, and setting spray for more permanence. Also I've heard the EL double wear gives good longevity.

Re: Makeup help

Thanks everyone! Yes I heard about the NARS Sheer Glow foundation too. I might have to try that, don't want to end up orange.
