lighting makes all the difference in how our makeup looks :S and i usually get it right indoors and stuff
but do you guys have any tips and tricks to make it look natural outdoors? everything is like more pronounced outside and on top it you dont want your makeup to look cakey or layered.
so guys pleaaaaase help me. and how can i keep it from “degrading” over the course of the day, esp if i’m doing work or im in the sun..
so i guess minimal foundation and more concealer and powder?
should a primer be used to keep stuff in place? how much eyeliner can i use…and i guess no blush.
my main concern is with hiding blemishes…i’m not necessarily asking for a whole shaadi look or anything, haha.
and sun block gives me this weird cast over my skin…so i dunno how to use that…
When I know something is outdoors, I usually pull out my tinted moisturizer. It's lightweight, build-able and offers good coverage. I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, and yeah I love it. Conceal all your areas and yeah, you're good to go. If you like a more matte finish (generally for people with oily skin), then use powder. If you like the more dewy look, then leave the moisturizer as is and don't mess with too much powder.
I'm no makeup expert, but I've recently been more interested in it and from my experience, using a primer does a world of difference to your makeup. I heard a load of awesome things about the Smashbox primer, but when I tried it it was way too heavy and made my skin feel like it was suffocating. It has a silicone base to it, so that's probably why. My fav. face primer is by MUFE's HD Primer. It's AMAZING. Light-weight, and after a 12-hr day my makeup still looks like I just put it on.
In the daytime, you don't really need to worry about your sunblock giving you a weird "ghostly" appearance, bcos flash photography isn't for the day time lol. That's only something to worry about at night (and from what I've experienced it varied from person to person).
As for what type of makeup you can do - I think people generally go for a more bronzed look with a natural brown smokey eye. Or you can just do a nice shimmery all over wash on your eyelid, with some deeper color in your crease and 'v' to give your eye more depth. There's really no hard and fast rule about what kind of makeup is suitable for what time of day. It depends upon yourself, and what you think you can pull off. I've seen girls with heavy black smokey eyes during the day and they look perfectly fine. If you do feel like that's too OTT for your taste, then opt for brown and bronze, with a touch of shimmer.
OH - and with concerns to touch-ups and whatnot... I always keep blotting sheets at hand. They suck up all the oil on your skin (which is what causes makeup to breakdown on your skin) and leaves your skin with a matte finish.
Blotting papers are a great tool to keep shine under control
Tinted moisturizers are the way to go for a light finish
If I kow I will be out too much I try to just stick with sunscreen, concealer and light dusting powder. Not a tinted one...just something like Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. I know Smashbox makes a dusting powder too.
Depends on the kind of coverage you need. If you need heavy coverage, the concealers work better. You could just use concealer and powder, use softer/neutral colors for outdoors. Instead of a harsh black eyeliner opt for a medium brown/chesnut colored one.
