Lets see how all the ladies here take care of their brushes. I used to soak mine in a mixture of hot water and baby shampoo but then I decided to purchase a proper brush cleanser from MAC. I’ve only used it 3 times and i’m pretty happy with the product. It’s cheap and you get a decent sized bottle! If anyone has come across any other brush cleansers do share them here.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
I make my own makeup brush cleanser, water, alcohol, and baby shampoo.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
I have MAC's makeup brush cleaner, works great.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
I just use regular shampoo..it works!
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
I love juicy shampoo by lush. This removes all the crap and colour from brushes and they look new. Even the white bristle ones like mac 187.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
Well just clean it up after use,and thus remove what are to be removed.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
I did own the MAC cleaner a long time ago but never used it often enough to finish it and it went off. Since then I just use hot water and any shampoo and it works a treat. I do like to "re-shape" my brushes while they are wet so they dry nice and straight.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
I used to use MAC brush cleaner as well, but then a friend who was a makeup artist herself, said just spray rubbing alcohol onto a paper towel, and stroke the brush around in it, and ALL the stuff comes out within seconds!
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
Makeup artists would prefer rubbing alcohol because it's so quick and no washing is required, so they can do it between models etc but it is going to dry out the bristles.
After washing with the shampoo of your choice, I would spritz with tea tree oil (diluted) which is a natural anti bacterial. Or you can add a few drops of undiluted TTOil to your water/shampoo mixture.
I wash my brushes in a spot method using my hand. So when the brush is wet, put a small amount of shampoo in the palm of my hand and swirl it around until everything is out. Then rinse/squeeze multiple times until the water is completely clear.
Re: Makeup brush cleansers
i give it the same care i do my hair.. shampoo.. rinse... condition :D and then reshape when still wet. air dry.
