So currently I am in the process of choosing my makeup artists for my wedding. I was about to finalize Kavita Suri, as Shirley Wu is completely booked on the weekend I need her (as well as her sister Maggie). But Shirley got back to me saying her sister, Jenny, who has a salon in Lahore is available on the weekend. Now, I have no idea how Jenny is and will her makeup style be similar to Shirley’s or not. The other option is Kavita Suri, which is still open rite now. The advantage of Kavita Suri is that she will come down on location for both the wedding and Valima to do my makeup. However, with Jenny (if i end up going to her) I have to be at her Mississauga salon on both days- which isnt too bad because both the wedding venues will be in Sauga InshALlah. But Jenny will be a good alternative to Shirley, as I’ve always wanted Shirley on my wedding day. So if anyone has tried either Kavita or Jenny on their wedding day plz let me know how the experience went and the pluses and minuses of both.

have you asked if you can get a trial with Jenny? I would ask that first. I know a trial is probably going to be about $50-60, but I think in the end its worth it to get an artist you are comfortable with. Im sorry, I have actually never seen Kavita or Jenny's work, so I cant offer any more advice.

Then my friend told me about Naila Makeup artist . I went for trial I loved her makeup her personality too at that time I came to know that she is a Aesthetician too she has a salon in Oakville/ Mississauga. She is awesome guys. She did my Nikkah, Mahendi, Shadi and Walima makeover. Now she is going to do my cousin makeup too in 2011.

I checked and she said $ 150 for mehndi hair & makeup. I liked the mehndi and nikkah makeup from her Facebook page. Anyone have any experience with Pinky for bridal makeup? She charges $ 150 also. Any reviews?

Well Jenny is still is Pak and she won't be coming down until the end of June 2011 which is a bit late as the wedding will be 1st week of July InshAllah. So having a trial done is out of question. I have actually seen Kavita Suri's work on another bride, real time..and it was quite good. Also I shall be getting her for my nikkah as well InshAllah so that should be like a trial for wedding. Now im thinking to have 2 different artists for each day. Like maybe Kavita Suri on the wedding and Jenny or someone else for the Valima so that it doesnt get messed up for both occasions.

Thanks Sonia..I just looked at Naila Tausif's pics on fb and I think she's good but I personally am not in love with her eye makeup lol. See like how Shirley does the eyes I think no makeup artist can duplicate it. But then I have seen Kavita Suri's work in real time on a bride have even met her on the Suhaag show this year and I liked the makeup she had on herself. I think having a trial done is my best option...or having Kavita on the wedding and choosing another makeup artist for Valima will be good. Also i'll ask Shirley to show me Jenny's portfolio or somethin so i can get an idea...wot do u think?

Bubblegumbrat @ No probelm you are more then welcome . If you show Naila any bridal makeup picture she will do exactly the same makeup. I did that when i went for trial i showed her my magazine picture which i really liked. Naila did same but according to my face shape & features that was really great. Secondly she has very few pictures up on Face book because very few people allowed makeup artist to upload those. I am one of them :) I didn't allow her to upload my pictures up on FB LOL .
It’s a good idea if you want 2 makeup artists for two diff days. You must go for trial first with both of them Kavita and Jenny's Let us know
summerbr@ I really liked Naila's makeup because i have my personal experience and i really liked her personal makeup aswell. I had bad skin very dry and damaged skin she gave me some treatments before wedding since then i'm going for facial too . I highly recomment everybody about her...... Pinky brides i haven't seen any bride.....Let me check with my friend she has some reviews about pinky's
Shirely Wu's awesome, but I do think that other makeup artists are comparable. Especially Kavita Suri! My family friend had her makeup done by Kavita and she looked absolutely stunning! There are very few makeup artists out there that can do red wedding makeup nicely, but Kavita did a great job. Another good alternative is Wania. Wania learned her makeup from Shirley Wu. I know a girl who got her makeup done from Wania last year, and she looked beautiful, the makeup was very nice and simple (she asked for it to be light and simple, not too cake-y). Check out Wania's page on Facebook, she has some good photos in there.
If you don't want to look at alternatives though, go for Kavita Suri, especially since you haven't seen Jenny's work. If you really want someone whose learned from Shirley Wu, Wania would be the way to go, especially since you can actually look at her work on Facebook! And honestly, Wania (though young) is pretty much as good as Shirely Wu. Best of luck! ;)

Thanks...u guys are great with these suggestions lol. And yes i have seen Kavita's work on my cousin's wife and I have to say that she did a good job with the whole look. Also wedding day dress will be red and I need someone that can pull the look together nicely, and make it natural and not give me horrible orangy lips lolz. So for now I think I will get Kavita on my nikkah and reception...and then for Valima I can go for Wania..as ur saying she's a good alternative to Shirley. So i'll check out her fb profile and lets see how much she charges for everything...Thanks for ur help! :)

Im having the same dilemma, I was told that Shirley is booked but Jenny is available. The other option is Naila, but Naila's makeup looks a bit too cakey :S
I have made an appointment with jenny to see her portfolio, but the thing is everything looks good in pictures :(
What if I don't like Jenny's makeup and by that time Naila is also booked :((((((
Hey OUTLANDISH Naila’s makeup is more flawless then shirley one of my cousin got her wedding day makeup from NAILA and walima makeup done my Shirley…All the people at the wedding were saying that NAILA’S makeup is more flawless and great but shirley’s makeup was very chakey…actually my cousin has skin problem and Naila did awesome job on her problem skin and she used something before her makeup to clear up that problem skin …But shirley didnt do any thing she just rightaway did her bridal makeup that is why her skin look sooooo bad n cakey …Shirley has always so many brides one after the other thats why she doesnt care about any thing …She just wana make money …
Naila is the best in AIRBRUSH MAKEUP in Toronto…
