Just joined the Forum, :) & wanted to say seen a couple of good make-up artists in Dubai my Cousins are based there... and we have had 2 weddings last year.
One is a lebanese girl who worked in Paris Gallery Festival City... but Both my Cousins used Zaynab from London she has done lots of Famous people and has her own Make-Up Range too. Been featured in load of mags aswell. My cousins said she does all the Sheikha's too so not sure what she charges.
I know she is based in Dubai most of the year. Although when we called her last month she was in London! zaynab dot com

Taani is also a makeup artist..she is depilex's owners sis..n lives in dubai she did my birdal makeup n i waz vryyyyyyyyyyy satisfied wid her wrk..shez an amazin makeup artist..once u talk 2 her u wont feel like goin 2 neother MUA...if u don lyk her makeup shell re do it 4 u 100 tyms...n same goes 4 da hairstyle...but her clients have never asked her 2 redo da makeup...shez jus da best..n an amazin human being..she charged me dhs.4000 for weddin n reception n mehndi waz complimentary..if u book her 4 1 day den she charges 2000 n if u book her 4 2 days den she does complimentary makeup 4 mehndi..her no. is 050- 9765345..bt shez in kharachi nowadays n will b bak in september..trust me shez da best

Update: Called the woman from Allenora, her name is Ghazala Batool, she said she worked at the lahore branch for 9 years, she doesn’t do trials which freaks me out because I need to see her style!! She could just be saying she worked at Allenora right?

I'm in the same boat.... have my wedding in just over two months and I cant decide on who is best for make up. I also dont want cakey, I want subtle and elegant make up. I guess having trials would be the best thing as it would help you decide what really does look good on you. I'm considering Janie or Allenora...... unless anyone has better options. Pictures would really be useful.
Okay so I still haven't found a MUA and am getting really frustrated!!
Allenora's Tayyeba doesnt do trials and a WARNING: do not to go to Ghazala Batool of Allenora, I saw a bride done by her and the makeup was TERRIBLE!!! I couldnt believe someone from Allenora did that makeup!! It was way too plain and the eyes looked so blah,
So there is no way I am booking Allenora without a trial, and Tayyeba's insisting she can't, I'm going to call up Aliya Tipu myself and insist on a trial, so let's see what happens!!!
Has anybody heard of an Irum or Erum in Dubai who freelances? She's pakistani...
Also I am not going to Janie Liang, she recently put up some pics on her facebook page and the make up was WAY too cakey with no contouring, and no blending on the eye makeup!
I would try the guy Gina recommended but I don't want a guy doing my makeup :(
