Hi Guys, my brothers getting married in October and i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good makeup artist in Birmingham that they’ve either used themselves or family/friends have used as i’d love to get my hair & makeup done professionally for the functions. i’m not a massive user of the stuff, usually a quick use of concealer and lipstick and i’m out the door.
any advice would be gratefully received,

thanks for all your responses, i know the weddings quite a while away but i thought i'd better start looking into things like makeup a little early, and its also nice to have recommendations from fellow guppis!

well since im gttng married in august nd hving the registration party in may i have done a lot of research on dis topic…dont go for da most expensive and well known beautician .if dis is wht u want…ppl belive only dose beauticians can make u luk pretty who hve worked wid bollywood stars or sum professional models…its not true..BS!!!
most make up artist in uk dnt only work in deir salons dey also work on mobile so dey can cum to ur house on da wedding day.

Naveeda.she works with bbc and other bollywood ppl…i called her to ask the charges and she had so much attitude dat she even couldnt be botherd to talk ..her assistant answerd all my question! apperntly she charges about 500 pounds and 200 for travel!http: //www.naveeda.com/

now here r sum less well known make artist who r local nd also work on mobile

i wuld personally go for sukhjit or zens! normal charges nd friendly staff!!
however im gttng my make up done from sum persian lady ..... as im half persian nd half pakistani!!
i know sum other beauticians too..if dis information is not enough let me knw nd i will post abt dem

well if u ask sum local ones for party make up dey will never charge u more dan 60pounds...and dis is max for hair and make up both...seems like a reasonable price! u can ask da bridal artist ...if she can do ur party make up too..nd u might get sum discount this way..

Just read throo Catty's comments, and i must say that we have been working in d beauty sector for a good 12+yrs and have always tried our utmost best to meet our clients requirements. However there may be one-off time where a client may not b happy wid service due to various reasons.. i.e. client was trying to achieve a look/ hairstyle which wasnt compatible wid their features/hair type, or client didnt speak up at the time and wanted some minor changes done at d time, r client was xpecting a bigger discount, etc, etc. etc..
All i can say is a Beautician is not a magician - we try our best to give our customers 100%, but it is d client's job to speak up at the time - they should discuss requirements in detail (which is done at initial consultation), have trial done if possible (this way they are 100% sure of d look they are trying to achieve for their big event), and most important of all - speak up if they don't like anything - i personally love it when clients stop me in-between a makeover/hair-do to comment or advise how they want things done, that way i know i am providing the best service i possibly can - after all a customer satisfaction is wat it's all about.
Im sorry and upset to hear that Catty has come across someone who wasnt happy wid one of our service/s, i'd be happy to offer this unsatisfied person a free makeover (depending on availability) as a gesture of goodwill. Plz pass this mesg on to the person you kno as im not sure who you are referring to, we have dealt wid many clients and have always had a very positive response. In fact, i have always advised my clients to look over in the mirror for a good 5-10mins at end of makeover so that they can pick out any fault/adjustment so that i can touch-up if required, as i beleive in 101% customer satisfaction.

Also, brummiebird, if your looking for real good work - must say Naveeda is one of d best makeup artists going in d UK - her work is A1. Best advice is to check out ppl's portfolios and actually talk to them about ur requirements.. at the end of d day uve got to b able to talk to d makeup artist n relay wat kind of look ur trying to achieve - so its all about trust and communication - good luck wid whoever u choose for ur special event!

nd i also agree ppl like naveeda heena -h or kemmy r really gud nd highly experienced..but i also think that its really really pointless to waste soo much money on just one day make up.....500-700 pounds its quite a lot! hve u got an idea how hard is it to earn money?....u can get gud make up done from sum local beautician too..its nt necessary to go to the most expensive one....!!
nd da naveeda beautician..she got some serious attitude problems...cant be bothered to talk on the phone personally....how can u go to somone who cant even talk in a friendly way? i would rather just bin my money seriously!

No, its perfectly understandble wat u were saying, after all ur only going by wat someone has sed to u... everyone is entitled to their opinion, n each their own like they say.. no offence taken
I agree wid u on d fact dat prices should be kept reasonable so that a range of ppl can use d beautician's services. however ppl like naveeda n other highly-skilled beauticians tend to put their prices as sky-high as they want as they kno dat ppl will still come to them, d kind of ppl who jus go by d media n dat n beleive dat if u pay a very high price u will get d best service ever, which is so not true...
I am based locally in West Midlands but our team covers whole of West Midlands and East Anglia, as well as some parts of London... we have kept a balance on our prices as we encourage all kinds of ppl wid different levels of income to yry out our service... we also tend to review our prices every 3-5yrs...
Having said that, if a client is too choosy/stingy bout prices, they can end up wid a serious budge-up job as like they say u only get wat u pay for... so i think its best dat ppl should call around for quotes and look at various portfolios then settle wid d beautician whose portfolio they liked best but also d one dat is 'average' priced and who they can easily talk to - giving attitude is no way to speak to a client - after all each client is paying good hard earned money n they deserve as much respect as anyone else... but i understand where u r coming from x
