Ladies, those of you who wear makeup everyday to work, how do you perform wudu with the makeup on? Or you don’t?
Re: Makeup and Wudu
No replies. So I take it you can't do wudu with makeup on so can't say namaz either?

Re: Makeup and Wudu
A bit of a noob when it comes to the daily grooming stuff. Now that I’m almost done with college, I think it’s about time I started looking like an insaan ki bachi when I step outside the door. No more baggy trousers, danedaar face, joggers etc. That’s what got me thinking how I’d do wudu (which I usually do at least twice during college hours) if I started wearing light makeup everyday just to cover up the acne that I’m struggling with. I was hoping there would be some magic solution but I guess you can’t be splashing water on your face no matter how waterproof your makeup is, right? :hinna:
Re: Makeup and Wudu
it depends really cos i am not working i just tend to use waterproof mascara and eyeliner and wen i do do my wudu if it smudges i wil redo it for example recently we were able to read zuhr asr and maghrib within a few hours once i read my maghrib i would just reapply whatever i need and pray isha last thing at night as i hae alsways prayed it last thing at night
Re: Makeup and Wudu
The best thing is to do your wudu before applying the make up and try your best to maintain it for as long as you possibly can.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
As far as I know , your wudu is not valid since foundation and rest of the make is made with animal fat. If you wear herbal creams or make up made with natural trees and leaves then your wudu might be considered valid since there is no fat in it.
I pray Fajor and Isha at home. Mostly, I miss my Zuhar prayer at uni ,I only offer Juma when I am at uni, rest I pray Asar and Maghrib at work or home. I usually don't wear make up at uni , only lip gloss and kajal so it works fine for me.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
is it ok for men to answer this query?
the rule of the thumb is that water must touch the skin. if even a thin layer of any makeup is applied on the skin and it prevents the water from coming in direct contact with the skin, it will render the wudu invalid and it is NOT acceptable.
however, having said that, if the make up is permeable/semi-permeable and it allows the water to come in direct contact with the skin then it's permissible and the wudu will be valid and acceptable.
wallaho 'aalam bissawaab.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
Ever since doing wudu, I've noticed that my skin has improved vastly, alhamdulillah. So there is no longer a need to apply foundation on a daily basis. Problem solved! :D My only issue is with mascara... I always think its best to play it safe though and take off all makeup before making wudu.
Splashing cold water on my face five times a day has definitly improved my oily, rosacea prone skin.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
Thanks for your replies, guys. I didn't even think of the invalidity of the wudu if the water doesn't touch the skin.
No daily makeup for me then.
May be during Summer I can get away with it but right now zuhr, asr and maghrib are all during college hours, within 2 hours of each other.
Makeup and Wudu
Same happens with me. I dont wear much makeup at work.. Just a little powder n lipstick.. Thats easy to put on again after vadu but obviously big no no to lots of mascaraa , liners.
It is possible only if u are carrying makeup removers with u all the time and have enough time to remove makeup n reapply
Re: Makeup and Wudu
You wash your face...redo the makeup.......simpal.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
I've never been very particular about this topic. I don't wear foundation on a daily basis.
But I wonder...
If you're saying foundation might render wudu invalid because the layer prevents water from coming in direct contact with your skin...I don't think its right. Makeup is not that powerful...it doesn't coat your skin and not move or budge afterwards...there wouldn't be so many foundation threads if that were the case. We'd all be so happy with our makeup.
Even if we go along with that...what about sunscreen and moisturizer? If anything, those would be the actual barriers.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
Regardless, I would feel really icky splashing water on my foundation even if wudu is considered valid that way. I would prefer to remove all the makeup, do wudu and then reapply the makeup again but who has time for that... so chaddo.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
I used to wear very light makeup(when I was working) .....no eyeshadow,no foundation,no mascara just a concealer, eyeliner and a lipstick and lipgloss.....and I used to wash/clean my face before doing wudu each time and then wear again after saying namaz....it doesnt take much time....
and YES that is true when you wash your face 5times a day you really dont need to wear foundations/primers etc
Re: Makeup and Wudu
What about Origins UK
The make up is made of natural stuff, I am sure it’s foundation won’t give strong layer to the skin and it has no animal fat in it ? Once I bought their daily moisturizing cream,it was good but I never bought their make up though.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
The thing with wudu is that you just don't splash water, you also have to wipe your hands on your face to ensure that your entire face is fully wet, and that act alone would get rid of 50% of your foundation. If time is on your side, you can probably re-apply all that make up I guess, but I actually agree with everyone who says that doing wudu has improved their skin condition. I wholeheartedly agree with this.
Re: Makeup and Wudu
Get one of those Stila, Tarte, or Too faced BB creams with SPF15/20… They are sort of water resistant. Buy a gooddd water proof eyeliner and mascara. And curl your lashes and use a stain for blush and lips (nearly impossible to take off).
