I know a lot of guys as well as myself who can and do cook for themselves as well as family, the whole point of marriage is sharing responsibility and supporting each other.

could not have said better myself … i’m not married and i’m a masters student … i live with my family and these days my mom is in pakistan … and between my sis me and my dad we hardly bring takeout … i don’t realy mind cooking … i cook arnd about 3 times a week give or take … me and m sis are at it on wkds to last us two more days or one day we get take out or frozen food … i don’t htink cooking is such a big deal and id on’t think i’ve seen it as an issue in any household

no, making a sandwich is not a challenge for desi men, its a non-issue in an average/normal desi household, don't know about dysfunctional ones. by the way, was that a real question or just your usual passive aggressive finger pointing session? :)

PCG, guys are better cook than girls. We just let you cook so it wont hurt your self esteem knowing that only thing you thought you were good at; you are not even good in that.

Making sandwiches and desi dishes are the easiest things in the world. It's an art to master it though.

I think every job is demanding in its own respect. If my to-be husband said to me that my job is easy peasy and not demanding, I will break his nose!

Cooking and chores are not big deal. You two just have to sit talk about it. Talk about the expectations both ppl have from each other and come to some sort of common agreement like instead of expecting homemade rotis, you guys can live happily on pitta or tortillas, etc. Always have some sort of salad, sandwich spread, shreaded chicken so he can fix some quick sandwiches for the two of you or just for himself. If he does not know how to fry an egg or make an omelette, then TEACH him.
Anyway, I know alot of guys who can cook, if not from fresh ingredient then for sure from canned ingredients.
I guess many times couples for get that they can run the errands togather, cook a delicious simple meal and have a good couple time at the same time.

Oh and I work and plan on working after getting married too.

Why do you have to cook when there are so many restaurants/ takeaways around? I mean you don’t have to cook everyday. Kabhi kabhi bhaar (restaurants) ka bhi khaana chahiye

My wife would have to cook 5 days a week. Simple, no excuses! She will get two days off; Saturady & Sunday. But Mon to Fri, she will have to cook unless she is damn busy in some other stuff.

Beside, how long does cooking take anyway? Maximum of 2-3 hrs?

PS: I can cook. Well, might not be as good as my Mom’s cooking but i am still ok. I will give my wife sat-sun off and will try to cook for her :D, she might like it lol
