Make-up Trial

My mum’s abit old fashioned and today we were discussing make up trials and she said that we don’t have to get them done. Is that true?

Re: Make-up Trial

lol, what kind of question is that? its up to you. Doesnt really have nothing to do with.. anything.

Re: Make-up Trial

It really depends on you. It would be a good idea to see how the makeup artist does so that you don't get the shock of your life on ur wedding day if it turns out bad. You can also work with him/her to try on different looks and adjust something if it needs to be done. That would not be possible on the day of the wedding. But for some, trials can be expensive so it's really up to you :)

Re: Make-up Trial

I didn't have one. Some people I know did, some didn't.

Re: Make-up Trial

Cuppy! I think you should def. get one done so you and the MUA can talk about what you're going for and what'll go with your lehnga and all, don't want to rush last minute and end up with something you did not expect.

Re: Make-up Trial

I didn't have one either.. so it totally depends on an individual.
To me its not at all necessary since i blv the same MUA can do a bit different thing.

Re: Make-up Trial

I know M! I really do want to go for trials but thing is they're really expensive. and because there's a few I would like to try out it would end up costing quite a bit :s my mum phoned up a few places. Some offered £200 for a bridal package but none of their portfolio's really stood out to me. And then we phoned up allenora LONDON and she gave us a quote of £350 for ONE DAY! :O is that a standard price? and then because one the valima she will have to travel she gave us a quote for the that of £470!! I have no idea what to do. I really like the high name artists like annie shah/dil matharu but they must be really expensive right?

People who have had trials - did you find that they were worth it? People who haven't - did you regret not having a trial or do you think it didnt make one bit of a difference?

Thanks for everyones reply! Very appreciated!

Hunted - i don't know the least bit about make up artist/costs etc blah blah so the reason i asked this question was because i basically wanted to find out whether a make up trial is really necessary considering how expensive they are? I just want to know whether i should get one done. :/

Re: Make-up Trial

hiya cupcake,

I think trials with your MUA are important because they give you a good illustration of how their makeup will look on you, and co-ordinate with your outfit, so tht you will have a good idea beforehand of how you will look on your special day.
...They can sometimes be a bit expensive, so maybe you could whittle it down to 1 or 2 whose work you really like and have a trial with them only? Even if you like a MUA's work a lot, each has a different style and way of doing things, so it would be nice to have a rough idea of how they can help to give you your dream look :)

hope this helps, all the best,

x

Re: Make-up Trial

Cuppy, sending you a PM.

Re: Make-up Trial

I would recommend it. Lots of women are unhappy with the way they looked on their wedding day because of the makeup... so is that a risk you want to take? In addition, if you are spending a lot on your mua, wouldn't you want to be sure it will be worth the money?

Re: Make-up Trial

I didn't have one, a friend of mine did and the trial makeup was better than the day. So it's up to you.

Thanks for the reply guys :) very much appreciated. It's nice to get such helpful advice!

Re: Make-up Trial

Cupcake - I've gone of a few trials and I would reccomend it if you can go. The MUA everyone told me was great and who is super expensive ($700 for 1 day) ended up not being so great and the girl who I got bad reviews on I really liked and an IA gonna go with her and Ill be saving $$. If you can go I would just narrow down like 2 people and go on trials for those. This way you wont spend so much money on trials with alot of people and then you can see which one you like better. Good luck!!!
