Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

Growing up I always heard about how make-up is so bad for your skin.
If you put lipstick early in life and too often then your lips will naturally discolour and look dark.
If you put eye-shadow everyday then you will develop unsightly lids that are discoloured.
If you colour your hair you are more likely to develop greys sooner in life.

Did you hear similar stories?
Have you debunked any of them or do you believe?

  • If u bleach u're skin will turn dark (nope!)

  • If u wear nailpolish too much it'll discolor u're nails (yes!)

**^ yikes at the last one!

grabs the nail polish remover!**

Re: Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

If you do threading/waxing you'll get more and thicker hair. It's true though.

Re: Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

really Hareem... i have heard the opposite for waxing..

Re: Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

I dont think any of them are true. I constantly have nail polish on and my nails r perfectly fine. I dye my hair ALL the time i even bleach it. No greys so far.
I thread and wax, i even shave my legs and the hairs dont grow after 2 weeks.

Just live your life, Lifes too short to be worrying about what these products are gonna do!

Re: Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

I think makeup has come a long way. Our parents generation makeup probably left some sort of damage.

I always heard that about foundation - that it makes you break out and you see some celebs in desi land have some major acne. God knows what they use for foundation back in day.

I don't do lipstick on regular basis but am a avid mascara wearer since the 7th grade!!!! (yay wet and wild cosmetics!!) and my eye lashes have not fallen out.

Despite my mom's claim.

Re: Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

if u use low quality cheap brands of cosmetics, then yes they will discolor ur skin n will leave dark patches (Proved..)
but good cosmetics like MAC,LANCOME, CHANNEL LOREAL doesnot.. thats y they r so expensive.
1 imp thing, to sleep in makeup= rough dry spotted skin ( i had gone through all these experiences :(
& i had a great spotless skin..sigh

Re: Make Up Myths or Ammi was Right?

i think mums use those excuses for their daughters so that they dont look older faster..

for example i see young 14 year old girls in full make up...it looks awful and it ages them,

I didnt start wearing make up untill I was 18 and that was only gloss, and eyeliner..

if i had a daughter i'd probably use those scare stories to keep her away from heavy make up lol
