I need your help and guidance.. I need to learn how to apply base like the one in the pic. This is what the makeup artist did for my wedding, valima and other big shindigs that I went to.
It is kinda costly going to her everytime I have a big dinner so I would like to learn how to do this on my own but I can never get it right.
Here is what I do:
Moisturize, apply face primer, and then I apply liquid foundation. I am currently using cover girl liquid make up. It gives me a great look but not the wow factor.
All your help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks
Exfoliate first (this gets rid of any dry patches of skin) and then moisturize..after 10-15 mins use u're primer. If u have flawless skin just use u're foundation mixed with either MAC strobe cream or Benefit's High Beam. If u have blemishes cover them with a concealer.
The term "airbrushed" or "airbrushed photo" has also been used to describe glamour photos in which a model's imperfections have been removed, or in which their attributes have been enhanced. The term has often been applied in a pejorative manner to describe images of unrealistic female perfection and has been particularly common in reference to pictures in Playboy, and later Maxim magazine.
*Eat well - plenty of colourful fruit and veg to get the vitamins you need to get a natural healthy glow! (you'd be surprised how many people ignore this)
*Make sure you're drinking plenty of water. (again very very good for the skin)
*Use a facial scrub at least once a week. (to get rid of the old skin cells)
*Moisturise. (to keep your face well hydrated - try getting something that has sun protection in it)
Then you're ready to tackle make up.
-Prime the skin
-Conceal any imperfections (use a concealer a shade or two lighter than your skin)
-Apply foundation (do this step with a brush or with a slightly damp sponge for a professional finish - remember that for pictures a matt foundation is best - shop around for foundations that suit your skin)
-Set the foundation with a powder (this is very important to make your make up last!)
-Contour the face - use a dark brown colour to contour the face to highlight certain areas
-Apply blusher on to the apples of your cheeks and pull up towards your temples - remember to build up colour to make it long lasting and to give a more natural airbrushed finish.
alhamdulillah doing all of the above, and these days the makeup I am applying most of the feedback is that it is not bright enough to be wedding makeup. They are right, the mua's work makes me all lit up and very glam, when I do it myself it is very toned down. Looks great but is missing the glam factor. How do I inject the glam factor....
Gina and other makeup gurus pls help, dont have a lot of time to practice....

automne, i'd suggest asking her for an application class. she can inform you of the products she uses and how to apply them in the same way.
to be honest i'm a little surprised that if she has done your makeup so many times already, how you haven't picked up any of this!
the main thing will be the products she uses; covergirl and even the expensive brands that you can buy in dept. stores on the whole are unlikely to be able to give you the kind of look to compete with your previous function makeup.
the second thing is strength of application. it may not feel like it but she probably layers on the foundation etc a LOT more thickly than you'd naturally do on yourself.
ur right I should've picked up but she is mashAllah so damn fast and quick, and I usually just enjoy the moment of being dolled up :) .... I am thinking of going to see her and see if she can help me out of this tight situation... in the meanwhile I hope to keep practicing so atleast I can get better at what I am doing..

Don't be shy to ask questions, I've had people ask me what I mix-in to their foundation, how contoruing is done. Notice the products she uses, and the technique.
Some MUA's pat-in the concealer using their finger-pads, some apply it with a concealer brush for precision. Don't be afraid to ask her questions.
I don't know why I was so apprehensive about approaching my MUA inshAllah she is gonna give me a one on one class :) and she gave me notes to study. I was one of her favorite clients ...and she is gonna use all my pics (yeah I do go to her for all big days) to add in her portfolio...how awesome is that.... in a way I can pay her back for all the magic she does on my face :)
Some MUAs are just simply great, and willing to share their knowledge... mashAllah
