Well - whether its your shadi the first time or what ever it is; in a country like Pakistan this cost is way too much for make up - 39k is a big amount; some one's salary maybe much lesser than that! Whether you agree to it or not it is a big amount to charge and no matter what you put on some one's face the cost paid does not balance it.
Anyway, its ones own opinion I think MUA are taking it too high on their own and make it more affordable for their business to prosper instead of making it a brand name that only the elite class may be able to access!
Ather Shehzad also charge a crazy sum of money and those who can afford them and want them go ahead and pay for them. Same goes for Maryam too I guess. I've seen lots of brides by her and really like her work

Ather Shahzad have been in the business for decades now! They have produced 1000s of brides so far and so they dont compare. Also, when they started they took a low price and gradually after many slow years increased the price. Maryam is increasing her price within months..this is weird!
I totally agree! and then she says she MIGHT BE expencive just cause she uses Bobbi brown,Mac and she only does one bride at a time.....39k is still not justified for that!! On top of that she doesnt even offer discount if you book her for both days like what the hell :)
Idk, i thought it was a decent price. U have to realize that the higher quality makeup she uses, requires her to charge more money. In the US Bobbi Brown and Mac and LM are rather affordable, but I mean she's doing this from Pakistan.. it must cost her quite a lot. It's common sense, really; u pay more, u'll look better. =/ U might find a great MUA that charges less money, and u may love their style.. but if the makeup rubs off on the ride to ur venue or half-way thru an event, or u get a reaction to a cheaper product used.. lol.. ur kind of screwed? And personally, it's one day.. i'd start saving early for my wedding if I wasn't able to afford something. Idk, maybe it's just me but for like a pedicure or a manicure or like a haircut.. I'd skimp on the money.. it goes away after a while. But if i'm putting something on my face, I want to know its clean and of very good quality.
Okay so a junior member and defensive..seems multi-nicker :D
No, not multi-nicker.. whatever that means. I just absolutely love her work. I'm going to defend it because I have yet to see someone of higher quality than Mariam. She really makes u feel special. And i'm not speaking thru a friend or anything... i've experienced it. Madeeha's, Depilex (Lahore), Sobia's Isb, Jugnu's (Pindi)... so many I've been to over the years.. and never once did I feel special. Always an assistant doing something. When I did my party makeup, Mariam herself took care of it. That's a first timer for me. I don't know about the rest of u.
well guys to be fair i dont think that 39 k is expensive for a bridal makeup...take a look around all other famous parlours like alle nora, ather shehzad, depilex and madeeha's..they charge too much higher rates for bridals..
madeehas is taking 40k for bridal makeup without any services and mariam's is taking 39k INCLUDING the pre bridal services i.e. skin facial, polishing, manicure, pedicure, mehndi and threading...if u sum up cost of all these services they cost more than 10k normally...also i'll mention that mariam's is very friendly and she'll make u feel as comfortable as she can around her..if u don't like your look or your color of lipstick, she will change it for u or tell u that y should u wear it...
my wedding is in dec and i've booked my barat makeup from mariam's..i already got my engagement makeup from her and she did a great job and i'll totally recommend mariam's :))
and guys stop arguing about her charges....it's all about who can afford what?
people also pay 200k for their bridal makeups as well as 600k for their bridal dresses..it's because they can afford to pay that much...if someone cannot afford to pay 39k then they should not complain about it... :))
Guys, I booked Mariam Khawaja for my baraat and walima make up. My MIL had booked madeeha’s for Walima but when she went to book my Baraat MUA (since I’m out of town, she did the booking for me), she fell in love with Mariam’s work and cancelled Madeeha’s. So all of the bridal party and inlaw’s side are getting ready by Mariam along with me iA :halo:. Mariam is charging 40K for each day. I’m not sure about the party make up for the gang. She is also booked to do my mehndi iA!
Seriously shanummm its TOOOO much ... i dont understand why do they chargee SOOOO much i agree what BBQ said they r NOT manufacturing new makeup for every client
Every business has some basic costs and need to run year round. The busy months pay for the slack in slow months. And people must understand that the makeup artist neds to eat too. Its not khairaat. I am a desi photographer in Arizona and have to deal with the same questions and same concerns as every one is doing to Mariam. Girls, just stop it. If you don't like the price, do it yourself.
hi desimom!
thanks for trying to reason things out but it doesnt matter. if ur work is good and ur sincere with ur clients, people who like it and can afford it will come to u!!!. girls are getting their bridal makeups booked up to the month of march despite the charges going up to 39k at my salon....it doesnt matter how long u'v been in the bussiness....its HOW GOOD ur work is...clients pay for that!...if u feel pressure to reduce ur photography charges, just focus on improving ur work and ensuring ur clients go happy! thats how i like going about it, i enjoy all my brides and i luv tending to detail on their big day! :)
