And btw, for Mehwish Khan, I joined her FB account, and saw the work she has done. It is nice, but I guess I was looking for more of a matte finish...like you know a natural look..perhaps the kind you generally get by Madeeha's in Lahore (if any of you know what I am talking about).
Wow, I just saw Memories in Motion website and I must they, their work is very very unique. Generally, unique = pricey :) So, I was wondering, have you thought of going with them for your wedding? If you don't mind me asking, u have any idea where their price ranges even begin, so that I don't start dreaming about them already ;)
I do. I would try Zaynub's makeup. She did one my very good friend's weddings but Im still trying to get her contact info. There is another one Ive recently heard about that Im going to try out also. When is the big day for you?

Unfortunately, Memories in Motion is pricey! I dont remember what they quoted me last time but it was sky high and they have two different prices usually, one for wedding season and one for non-wedding season.
I do know one more videographer. He did my sister's wedding about 4 years ago and that DVD turned out beautifully. Its a father and daughter team that does weddings and other events. I sent them an email, they should get back to me in a day or two and Ill post their contact # here too for you!
PSquared, you know what the only reason I didn't recommend Zaynab is that her info is really hard to get. I was looking for her contact number when my cousin was getting married and surprisingly everybody knew she's a great MUA but no one really knew where she lives or what her ph# is!
Angel, my friend has Zaynub's # and I will call her tomorrow to get it. You're right, she is super hard to get a hold of. If she is too difficult, I wont deal with her. Like I dont have enough stress right now, lol. There are better options in Chicago, all you have to do is look!
Mehwish, you still have time! Dont worry, as soon as I get my consultations, Ill share so you can book too if you want. Are you going to make any trips here before May?
Psquared and Mahwish, who are you going with for your mehendi? I know this one lady who does GORGEOUS mehendi, the best i have seen so far in Chicago. I didnt know of her at my wedding but she did my sister's later on for her nikah and other occasions and her work is just beautiful. And she is a very nice lady too. Let me know if you guys need her info.
thanks to psquared, i am now leaning more towards amna's photography. it is such stunning work! i have also heard mixed review's of zaynab's work. i have tried contacting her as well, but she is REALLY hard to get a hold of. a friend's sister had her makeup done by her, and she had a pretty bad experience. she said zaynab was rushing through the process the whole time because she had some sort of dinner to go to afterwards. you would think, if you make an appt with a bride for her makeup, you would know how long it takes, and would make it a point NOT to rush the bride. she said zaynab took a total of 1 hour or 1.5 hrs to do the makeup, the hair, and dupatta setting. she was not happy with it.
i went to a family friend's wedding, and mehwish khan was the makeup artist. she does REALLY nice work. however, she has been a little hard to get in touch with for me.
i am also looking for a mehndi artist. im having a hard time finding really nice mehndi artists in chicago.
guys thankyou so much for putting this information here...
im in indiana and i think im going to have to get someone in from chicago for the wedding, because god knows there is no one in this state :(
i was looking for photographers and videographers online but its so conusing!
my wedding is friday and valima is sunday so not sure how that will work but i need to get it done soon... wedding is in august eek..
I heard Mehwish (makeup artist) is no longer doing bridal makeup....... and ive tried doing searches for makeup artists and through word of mouth and there are so many mixed feelings about other artists...so its really stressful.
Wow this is amazing. Chicago is just too small I guess. Already found 2 more ladies who despise Shaheen. She has ruined my eyebrows once too by the way. Zubaida makes 'em real good as well as these two sisters Maureen & I don't remember the other's name in Nikhaar.
No problem Mahwish :) Make sure you ask your fiance to bargain with Syed's. U won't find dupilex's website. Its just another beauty salon on the Devon stretch. My mom's friend knew Zubaida & had recommended her at my engagement time. She took a little over 3 hours & although I was really scared at that time now that I look back at it did an awesome job. Oh & I forgot to mention but also paid extra $25 to Anjum.
Amna's work looks great. Wish I knew her before would have checked it out. Oh & by the way as PSquared mentioned Mili is no doubt the best. Her work is more cinematographic though. She did my cousin's best friend's wedding who also happens to be MAU Mehwish Khan's sister. This was in 2007. before Mili did Tara & Raj's wedding. Since then her rates have sky rocketed. I badly wanted her to cover my events but she is a bit pricey. Her prices are fixed & this is what she send me.
"Production rates are $400/hour for 2 cinematographers shooting in HD (1 cinematographer is on a steadicam) and post production rate is $50/hr. A typical pakistani wedding could be around 8 hours of production and maybe 60 hours of post production depending on how extensive of an editing we decide to go for..we offer 5 DVD copies for the event and 1 of the copies is delivered in Blu-ray for you to enjoy the true HD quality of the movie."
I think our typical wedding is any where between 12 to 16 hours. Just 8 hour coverage comes to around $6200 considering Mili's rates. She is a very nice person to talk to, work is beautiful & if anyone can afford it then def. go for it. I am paying just a little less than this price & getting a whole lot of other things which include photgraphy as well as videography. Also Mili does not offer photography for weddings. Only if you wanna do a "you & me" sessions.
Chester I m sure you'll find someone in Chicago who will be willing to travel to Indiana for an extra charge. Best thing is to book the venues first. Food caterers, cake bakers then your videographers/photographers. Decorators if you plan to after that & then find a MAU & Henna artist. This is besides the other preps that is your bridal outfits, jewelery & other bla blahs.
Ira can you pls give me the info. about the henna artist you mentioned. My sister does awesome bridal mehndi too by the way. But since I plan to get my mehndi done on the mehndi day itself I am looking for someone else to do my mehndi. Don't want her to have a back ache on my mehndi night. The only problem is I want someone as good as my sister. I would love to check this lady out.
Ladies don't stress out for MAU. All the ladies mentioned above except Shaheen do good jobs. InshaAllah u girls will find someone good.
Noodles what date in May? I am getting married in May too.
This is my engagement make up from Zubaida. Pls do not quote or post these pictures elsewhere. Just so u guys know the first time I visited her & asked her to show me some pictures of her work she showed me an album in which it seemed like most of the brides were from Pakistan. Some of them also had that caked make up. At that time I only had a week to gather up everything so went ahead with Zubeida. Didn't show Zubaeida any pictures but told her that I didn't want my face to look like it was painted. The end result is in front of u girls.
Unfortunately I still haven't gotten any pictures from the day Anjum did my make up. Just have one which is not that clear. Hers was good too though. Honestly even I am confused because although Anjum used Mac's stuff I think both make ups stayed on for some good hours & both were nice.
BinteNaeem you look gorgeous maashaAllah. She did an amazing job.
Here is the info for the mehendi artist. Her name is Parvin Saiyed and her phone no is 773-465-2895. I absolutely love her arabic designs and she is very quick and fast. She also makes her own mehendi and the color comes out very dark and rich. I am not sure if she travels to locations, since she has two kids. She lives off of Ridge, somewhat behind the old Dominicks location Ridge/Damen av.
I liked Mehwish Khan’s makeup. She did bridal makeup, hair and dupatta setting for my friend and it was really really good. Mehwish Khan - Make-up Artist
OK this has to be THE most PROFESSIONAL website for a desi MAU that I have seen to date!!! Very very impressive! It put a on my face!!
I hope you go with her PSquared, I doubt you will be disappointed judging by her work.
Ok guys, I am thoroughly confused...So Makeupforu bySarah and Mehwish Khan are the same person? (ref. to Corrupt Angel post)...because not only do the MUA look different, but the quality of work seems VERY VERY different...
And if Mehwish Khan is the one everyone is referring to..in terms of the bludomain11 com/mehwishK/# then yes, she is spectacular.
But if everyone is referring to Makeupforu bySarah...then I am not so sure? I mean have any of you seen the FB profile I am talking about?
BinteNaeem you look gorgeous maashaAllah. She did an amazing job.

Thanks a bunch Ira. I know what area you are talking about. Arabic design is what I particularly like. That's good. I m gonna call her & see what she says.
Mahwish I just saw Sara's fb profile. Mehwish Khan & Makeforu by Sara are entirely different people. I m not really diggng Sara's make up. Mehwish is no doubt good, full of ideas & she also does the hair as well as dupatta settings. That takes half of your tension away for the shadi day. She is a little snobby though. I was trying to avoid her for some personal reasons but just sent her sister a message to see if she still does bridals.
