Make-up Artist

Hej girls!
I have a question for your guys, I am 24 years old and I go to university. Make-up has always been a passion of mine, and now I’ve gotten the opportunity to make it into a part-time job, I’ve been offered a course after uni, and in the weekends, I am thinking of saying yes to it.
Its going to be a weekend job, and I will still go to uni. I know it will be hard, but I already work 2 jobs while I study at uni, you have to manage your time accordingly, and I will be taking time off of work to do this course.
Make-up is a hobby of mine, I LOVE doing other peoples make-up, I LOVE the way it can transform people, and how it can define their natural beauty …

But I have some concerns …
Doing a paying clients hair and make-up is not like doing a friends hair and make-up … and doing a paying client, like a brides make-up for example is a huge responsibly … I guess I’ve never thought about working as an make-up artist and I think I am a bit unsure about doing it … I need some advice! Hope you can help

Re: Make-up Artist

Hi, I think Its a really good idea u studying and doing the makeup thing part time. I was going to do something similar but because of Ramadan this year it became difficult to fit the course in during the summer. Can I ask who ur doing ur course with? also i'm studying something completely different from makeup/arts/fashion at uni is it the same for you? or did you find the job because ur studying in the similar field?

I think you should start of by doing party makeup to help you build ur confidence and then progress from there.

Re: Make-up Artist

^How did your course go, CE? Also let me know if you're still up for that shoot I mentioned before..

Re: Make-up Artist

Hi,

I just trained to be a makeup artist a month ago and love it! Like you, I've always been passionate about makeup.

As for paying clients, I think the first few clients will be always be scary, but after that you will be fine, after all, you will be pro trained. :)

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :)

Re: Make-up Artist

Hi Deeba, I had booked a course with Dil Mathuru but he just kept messin me around so I didnt get to do the course and with Ramadan it was difficult to do the course with any of the Muslim MUA's. I'm at uni now but still trying to find a course to fit in with my days off. If you have anything coming up then just text me and let me know I would lov to do it. x

Re: Make-up Artist

Re: Make-up Artist

Nice! Haha, your right, I guess I have to build up the confidence ^_^ ...

Thanx :)

How cool! I am doing a course here in Denmark, not with anyone worth mentioning :p I study business language and it-based marketing & communications, so it's completely different ... but I LOVE make-up, its always been a huge part of me, and I'm so excited to "go pro" :D

Re: Make-up Artist

UPDATE:
I'm stuck, I thought I found my course, but I have no idea what to go for, I hope guys can help, once again :)

**My Vision:
**My vision is to have my own studio/atelier and do make-up & hair, and also tread eye brows. But the main thing I want to do is make-up, party & bridal make-up and hair, I really don't wanna do nails and so on, just hair & make-up and focus on that, I think if you try to do too many things at once, the end product ends up being mediocre, I wanna be DAMN good at what I do, therefore I only want to do make-up and hair, it's also there that my passion lies. and I also want to do make-up on every body, arabs, pakistani, africans, goray :D all skin colors ..

If I do course nr 1, I will have to do things that I will not use in the future, and also how detailed will the make-up lessons be with so many things to learn? but I will learn about hair & make-up at once. Also, they get color, they get brown people etc and desi/arab make-up ...

If I do course nr 2, I will have to do a second course for hair, but I feel like this course is very detailed, I know that I will learn everything, BUT do they understand colored skin? dramatic eye, like desis and arabs like esp. brides?
