This is a call out to resident experts for help on doing shape-specific eye make-up.
Just as there are tips and techniques for enhancing and modifying features on your face, there are ways to make small eyes appear larger, wide-set eyes appear closer together, etc., etc.
For small eyes there are a bunch of standard things one can play around with - light, shimmery shadows on the lid, subtle eyeliner (nothing to dark and heavy), white (or another light colour) pencil on the waterline, curling lashes to open up the eyes, lifting mascara (esp the outer lashes).
For wide set eyes, brows shouldn’t be too close together in the middle or be too long. One can use a darker shadow in the inner corners and can do heavier liner from all the way from the inner corner to the outer edge (whereas for small eyes it’s best not to apply any to the inner 1/3 to 1/2).
For small eyes, keep the eye-shadow light and shimmery. Stay away from heavy-liners. A pastel eye-pencil in u're waterline gives the illusion of big eyes. If u're going to use a dark color on u're bottom lashes make sure it's just on the outer corners of the eye.
For deep-set eyes, pastel eye-shadows and colored eye-pencils work well. They too need to omit the dark eye-liners and kohl's.
People with almond shape or large eyes should blend a darker color into the crease of their eye-lids for definition. They can sweep their eye-liner upwards and outwards..
People with close-set eyes should avoid dark colors around their tear-ducts..and use pale colors instead and go darker towards the end. They should apply a pencil just to the corners of the eyes. A dot of shimmer at the tear-duct also gives the illusion of big, "awake" eyes.
Ok the information you girls have provided seems sooo useful.. But I have a problem (sorry for butting into your thread muzna) I really dont know which category my eyes fall under.. how do I match it up to the pictures?
^a front view would've be better lol but it's okay. from what i can see, the shape of your eyes and the distant they're at is perfectly fine! i'd say you have almond shaped eyes which is ideal (more info about them is on the top right of the chart i posted)
lady_lama - i think you should try the makeup for small eyes like in the videos i posted. not that they are that small, but i really think it would make them stand out. give it a go and show us the comparison!
no problem lady lama…that’s what I meant for this thread to do…
in fact, I think you have a great idea and I’m gonna post a pic of my eyes to get the same kind of advice from the experts here!
So here is a pic of my eyes…its the best that I could find from the front.
I think I have small and deep set eyes – double whammied!!!
And when I smile it appears that I am squinting…so they get even smaller.
Need help!!!
