Make-Up and Islam

Sallaam everybody.

Im hoping somebody could help me with some confusion im having at the moment.
As you can probably tell i am new user and my purpose here to gain some information.
I would like to know what the Islamic standing is on training up in the field of make-up/beauty??
I am somewhat confused as some friends have told me its haraam and gunnah to learn such a trade. I have done someother research which seems to suggest it all depends on ones intention i.e why are you applying make-up/ for whoms benefit?
i just wanted to learn so then prehaps start a business from home for mainly bridals. Obvioulsy i understand the implications of say someone and young muslim girls wanted me to their make up becuase they are going clubbing at night…i would obvioulsy feel uncomfortable with that and refuse.

I hope someone can help

Re: Make-Up and Islam

Kulun haram , the ones who apply make up on others their hands will be in hellfire. :snooty:

P.S: use your common sense people. Knives are used to kill people so all those people who are engaged in making and selling knives should be in hellfire. Right ? Wrong! because the same knives can be used to cut vegetables , fruits , goats and cows which we eat and sustain our lives.
So makeup can be used by a prostitute to lure customer and makeup can be used by a women to look good in her own eyes and feel good or to keep her husband interested in her. Or hide some birth defect or what not, there are many positive uses of same makeup. Right ? Right!

Re: Make-Up and Islam

islam encourage education and learning. because your main business intention is to prepare brides.

I dont see any problem. why would any girl step in your salon for club makeup while you do bridal makeup. :konfused:

Re: Make-Up and Islam

thank u for the replies.

so u think it isnt a problem im sori that was probably a bad example to give...i think what i was tring to say was that my intention would never be to offer my services for such things that have been mentioned above, prostitution etc hope thats clearer.

thanks

Re: Make-Up and Islam

Mehreen, how many of the girls/women who come to your beauty salon will actually tell you that "Oh I'm getting makeup done so I can look good for the guys in the club"???

.

Re: Make-Up and Islam

Make up is allowed for women but they should show it only to their husband not any Na Mehram men and also when they will do ablution they will have to take it off

Re: Make-Up and Islam

just wanted to add about plucking of eyebrows being forbidden in a hadith in Sahih bukhari. I am not sure make-up comes under that category or not :bummer:

Re: Make-Up and Islam

i have heard about eyebrow thing but on the other hand islam also says that we shouldnt look like men :halo:

Re: Make-Up and Islam

and what if husband wants his wife to pluck/trim the eyebrow... just a chotta sa question

Re: Make-Up and Islam

I read it is still not permissible !

Re: Make-Up and Islam

The Prophet pbuh cursed those women who pluck their own or anyone else's eyebrows. If a husband asks for perfectly shaped eyebrows it doesn't mean it's suddenly allowed.
Perfectly shaped eyebrows is different than having an unibrow like Bert, the latter one could be an excemption because women shouldn't look like men? :D
