Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

I’ve worn it only once before and I did horrible make up with it :frowning: I had lipstick almost matching the colour of the blouse, and then mint green (very light) eyeshadow. It was about 4 days after I got married and I had no idea how to do make up back then so I didn’t look that great!

I want to wear it again tomorrow but can’t figure out what to do with the make up - any ideas?

(And how should I do my hair - is it okay just out or should I do something else?)

That's a very pretty sari! GS makeup experts/mavens might me able to help you better, but if it were me, I would go with bronze/smokey eye and nude lips. The key to not looking washed out would be to have color in your cheeks or maybe use bronzer. I would stay away from dark lipstick, it would look vampish with that dark blouse.

Your hair is nice and long, so maybe you could try a fishtail braid? Or keep it open, it looks nice.

One piece of advice, make sure your sari comes up a little higher over your chest..not sure if it's just the picture, but it's drooping too low under your breast..it's taking away from the beauty of the sari.

Uff that's a gorgeous kamdaani saari in a super pretty color. If possible please get a silver blouse made, silver sequinned one would look great or a contrasting one in something dark, pink or watermelon or any other khila hua pink color. As for hair if you want to wear all the stu Ning jewelry please opt for an updo or let hair fall on the back, either straight or in loose waves. Classic black and silver smokey eyes, nudish pinky, brown lipstick with lots of loss.

Thanks I love it too :)

Yeah I think vampish is the word to describe how I looked that day - totally not nice!

And yeah I don't mind tips on how to wear the sari I'm clearly no expert!!

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

curls would look really nice. or up hair due.

A loose chignon hairdo and simple smokey eye. The sari has a lot going on, so don't overpower it with your makeup, hair, jewelry, etc.

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

Wouldn't smokey eye be overpowering too? that's why I didn't do it last time. And if I did smokey eye with what colours?

You can do a smokey eye in bronze, it won't be so dramatic or overpowering. Even if you don't so a full smokey look, I think you should keep your eye makeup more prominent and lips nude/neutral/soft

Hmmmm...

If it were me...I'd pull pink and mint green from this. If we matched your blouse...you seem pretty fair and your blouse color is pretty dark so I would be afraid of making you look goth.

I'd use mint green/silver on the eyes and go smokey and use pinkish hues for the rest of your face...cheeks and lips. I'd highlight a lot too.

The pink cannot be a bright pink by the way - baby pink

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

As someone already said, invest in a silver blouse, or a matching one with sequins. It looks far more elegant.

I was thinking something like this(eyes) would be pretty

^ that's quite pretty!

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

Honestly speaking, I would try to get a diff color blouse made to go with it, preferably the same color as the saree and matching embroidery on teh sleeves. and yes, traditionally a saree is worn over the chest, to covre the boobs. I personally think that looks more elegant and classy (not that you don’t look nice, you do!) Also, tie it higher on the waist, and make sure that your blouse isn’t bunching up/out so you have a clean line.

Jewelry–I LOVE your necklace! if I were you I’d stick to the longer necklace, and forego the short one (or wear a simple/small chain in the neck along with the big necklace), and of course hte earrings.

makeup–mint green + silver smokey eye, and baby pink-nude lips. pink blush.

hair–it looks pretty long, so I’d go for soft bun, slight backcombing to give the front a little fuller appearance with a few waves around the face.

Some ideas–hope that helps

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

If I were doing my make-up I'd do a silver primary color with mint as my secondary and a grey at the corners and smoke it all out. A coral/peach blush and lipstick in the same color family (that's if you get the blouse changed, a silver would look really pretty!). A pretty, glowy...dewy look! For hair I'd do loose curls.

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

Thanks for all the ideas guysssssss

To those saying I should get a blouse made in a diff colour (and one person said I should have pink), it’s funny cus this is the picture I gave to the guy making the sari to copy the colour scheme:

I wanted the watermelon pink sari blouse with the green, but he did the dark plum shade instead. And I can’t get it changed now because I don’t live in Pak so it’s missions to get any work done here!

Anyways I wore it yesterday and did a green smokey eye with silver sparkle and black liner to give a smokey effect, a light pink blush and shimmery-nude lipstick (Estee Lauder’s Tiger Eye). Had my hair back combed at the top and in a side bun. Worked muchhhh nicer and got tonnes of compliments too! Thanks for all the advice

Re: Make up (and hair?) ideas for this sari

^ That sari has a border that matches the blouse and it has warm undertones.

I am grad it all worked out! I really want to see a pic :(
