I did and was shocked to see the level of racist attitudes .. I specifically hated that desi girl .. I dunno what she was on about .. I think she didnt like the desi guy and she was totally being prejudiced when she criticized his going to the mosque ..
But overall it was quite an interesting documentary .. looking forward to watching part 2 this Thursday

Saw it. Doesn't represent society at all and they purposely picked certain people to make for interesting tv.
did anyone see that other programme a few days earlier about the muslim extremist and the english defence league guy?

^Yeah, I was going to start a thread on this group of programmes..
I think the editors have prob asked the participants to play up to the stereotypes a bit at the start.. well I hope so at least 
(I know they do for other shows)..
Btw are all those 4oD documentaries viewable from outside the UK?

Rashid (I think that was his name) was annoying at the start but the best in the end. Was nice how he convinced the guy who stayed with him to become more family orientated.

The programme chose stereotypical people which did not always live up to the stereotypes. The practising, fanatical Muslim male was not the problem in the end - it was the moderate, integrated looking one.
I dont really watch this reality tv stuff but this one intrigued me. I have met Rashid before and he is a nice guy. He comes across as religion obsessed though - his jokes are based around it. We have got Damon to say a prayer, his new name is hamza etc etc etc. Damon looked better in pakistani clothes than most Pakistanis. The mixed race lady looked like a real Bengali woman in a sari.
Much of it was edited of course a week of filming condensed into 2 hours. I think Channel 4 wanted fire works but got little. The programe was not just about race and religion but social class too.
The reality is that in places such as Bradford English people feel uncomfortable and feel they have to sacrifice their culture for others. The sheer numbers of Asian people in some towns make them feel uncomfortable. Many English people suffer racism at the hands of Asians too. Quite a few Asian shops over charge English people for products too. Asian youths are more problematic than white youths nowadays.
That guy in the pub could have easily been shut up. Sabiyah was just dim not to ask him why none of the ladies in that pub were wearing a mini skirt? She could have also asked what the miniskirt has to do with being British and how so many decent, moral English girls do not wear it. Why did nt she have a Yorkshire accent? Her accent was very bad....
