Recipe in urdu: Makhandi Halwa - KhanaPakana.com

Snobars recipe doesn't seem to presoak the sooji which I thought was one of the elements that made Makandi halwa so famous?

As for the Urdu recipe-can't read it so can't tell what's what.

Re: Makandhi Halwa

The first link doesnt sound like makhandi. Like princess said, sooji needs to be soaked in water/milk for this kind of halwa. The khanapakana link sounds more promising.

Never heard of this halwa but sounds yummylicious…maybe i’ll try it :hmmm:

Re: Makandhi Halwa

Here is my recipe given to me by a friend.

1- Soak 1 cup sooji in milk (enough to absorb) for 15 mins.

2- Heat 1/2 cup oil or one stick of butter, add a couple ilaichis

3- Add 1 1/2 cups sugar to the oil

4- Keep stirring the sugar until it is completely disolved (it gets kinda hard at first but keep stirring till it's disolved.

5- At this point add soaked sooji. This is the critical part..... if you are making it for the first time have someone else pour it in while you stir. Now you have to keep stirring for 10-15 mins on medium heat. Lower the heat if it starts to burn.

6- After stirring for a while cover the pan and let it simmer on low heat for another few minutes, just make sure to not let it burn by stirring in between.

7- OPTIONAL Add some coconut cream (comes in a can) if you like.

It hardly takes half an hour to make this delicious halwa.

And now you have made me crave it so I am going to make some.
