Re: major sins
Try and read this book called "Greater Sins" by Ayatollah Dastaghaib, might help!
Re: major sins
Lol I was thinking about posting that yesterday. Read it over the summer. It's a horror book LOL.
Re: major sins
Really? I have just read the initial parts of its first volume...Is it really horrific so as to stop its reader from comitting a sin ever again?
Re: major sins
If u do a sin, make toba and repent.
ALLAH's blessings are much more than sins committed by us,ask for HIS blessings once u do sins and repent and HE will surely forgive.
Re: major sins
Shirk is the biggest one.
As for the rest...well...consider them all bad, the only difference is the punishment. Adultery is death and fornication is lashes whilst stealing is cutting the hand off.
Re: major sins
There are like 13/14 conditions which ALL have to be proven to have the hand cut off.
every sin is major sin....
There is validity in this POV.
I am so far from being a religious scholar or very learned about Islam, but something that I was taught was that while gunnah/sins can be classified into either gunah-e-kabeera (major sin) or gunah-e-sagheera (minor sins), if an indvidual knowlingly and repeatedly commits a gunah-e-sagheera (minor sin), it too becomes a major sin. Allah looks at the intent and the repentance (or lack thereof) of sinner.
Re: major sins
How would you repent from major sins then if someone has committed one?
Re: major sins
Lyng is not minor.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked: "Can a believer be a coward?" The Prophet said: "Yes." He was then asked: "Can a believer be a miser?" He replied: "Yes." And finally, he was asked: 'Can a believer be a liar?" The Prophet said: "No." - Al-Muwatta, Volume 56, Hadith 19
Re: major sins
Peace to All
Everyone has posted examples of sins, to add ...
There are classifications of sins such as major and minor and focussing on what each have in common can lead to patterns in the types of sins in their characteristics.
Major sins therefore take us away from belief or are expressions of disbelief - this includes lies.
Other major sins include those acts which take us away from our worship and impact others in the society on a macro social scale.
Lesser sins tend to impact us and those close to us on a micro social scale and can be classed as:
Indulging in makrooh
Hating those things that are supposed to be loved.
Being unkind, inconsiderate, having bad opinions about others and so on
Then there are other sins which are even more minor but sins nonetheless, whether we are accountable for them is another matter ... but all those acts that are forbidden or makrooh that we do without realising that we are doing them. For example staring at an attractive person for too long, etc ...
Remember every act we do has associated to it a weight, the least act being that with a comparative weight of the smallest visible thing.

what are major sins?
[/quote]
According to Sura XXV Furqan or The Criterion, Ayat 68 of Holy Quraan, there are three major sins which Allah will never forgive and their penalty will be doubled on the Day of Judgement. These are as follows:
1. False worship or Shirk which is a crime against God
2. Taking of innocent life, which is a crime against fellow-creatures
3.Fornication or Adultry, which is a crime against self respect
Re: major sins
^^ 2 & 3 are forgivable.
Oppression is worse than murder.
^^^
Says who? Quote aayat from Holy Quraan what you are saying. All other sins are forgiveable except these three. Use your brain when you negate Holy Quraan. Are you a pagan?
Re: major sins
Says I.
Quote the aayat from the Holy Quran proving otherwise.
