Major Power outage in Pakistan

Just heard on ARY about this major blackout in Pakistan

Pakistan hit by nationwide power outage

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A technical fault triggered a nationwide blackout in Pakistan on Sunday, a spokesman for the country’a main power utility said. He ruled out sabotage.
“It is a national blackout and we’re trying to find out the fault,” said Shafqat Jalil of Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority.
“There is no chance of sabotage because had it been so, it would have been reported to us by now,” he told Reuters.
Among the cities affected were the capital Islamabad and Lahore. However, most of the nation’s commercial centre, Karachi, still had power, witnesses said.
He did not give a timeframe for restoration of power in the country of 160 million people.

Re: Major Power outage in Pakistan

How is Pakistani power outage connected to Montreal?!
I don't get it, power went out for almost 4 hours here in Montreal, Quebec! And yet Quebec supplies power to NY!

Re: Major Power outage in Pakistan

Damn, just the opposite of most days here when the lights are on but nobodys home. :)

Re: Major Power outage in Pakistan

yaa, from around 14:30 to 23:00..

and a rumour went around that musharaf has stepped down or has been taken over by another general..

Re: Major Power outage in Pakistan

The exact rumor was this: Musharaff had a heart attack while visiting a friend in texas after which General Ehsan decided to take over, cut off all power to the country in order to sever cell phone, internet and other communications, put Shaukat Aziz in Jail and was going to wait for midnight to make an announcement.

That was until something came on tv that there were "rumors going around but everything in islamabad was calm" hah.
