I am thinking of wearing my yellow maiyun outfit with capris…i dont know how this would look…I wanted to wear payal and i thought it would be easier for people to put haldi on me…
anyone have any pics of maiyun/mehndi outfits with capris? would this look good, or stick with churidar/salwar?
Really don’t like the look of capris as they tend to creep up when the person wearing them sits down. Brides here mostly keep sitting so the legs seem to be on display more than the bride. But that does makes ubtan application easier.
This bride wore it on her engagement:
This is the only outfit that I remember seeing with trousers but she didn’t wear a super short ones, thankfully and it looks lovely!
I don't know who came up with the capris w/ kameez trend, I never liked it. Capris are not meant to be worn with Kameez. That's just me I guess. I don't think mehdni outfit will good with capris. You will most likely wear dupatta over your head, right? It will seem really off to have half your legs bare with top covered with dupatta.
Hey I just came back from Pak....ordered my Mayoun dress but unfortunately I don't have a pic...I got a gown made with a capri. The gown is mustard and hot pink with a bit of dark-greenish and the kaam is silver (not so so much kaam) and the capri is hot pink....and im planning to wear silver payals with it...

Agree. If you are wearing capris, just make sure they are not too short! I saw pictures of a bride a while back, it seriously looked like she only had a kameez on, you could hardly see her capris at all when she was sitting!
Yeah...do not have the capri really short cause when you sit it will go up more...right now the fashion is just long shirt and capri in the sense that it can be 2-4 inches above..some girls go crazy and make it too westernized..after all we are Pakistani. Try some on and see how you look in them. Not everyone can pull the look off well
for me, call me backward or whatever they look vulgar. If you are so eager to show your legs, why not wear a knee length quarters???? I have never ever made a capri with any material...
Salwars describe the very best of our ethnic culture. Now day’s culottes are so much in, and look very decent too
tbh, capri is definitely a big no no specially on such a traditional event ...as someone mentioned above capri with kameez look so odd ....i dont understand why designers came up with this very odd fashion...on the side note. capris are not very much in .....go for trouser or something else but capri...
dont mind but thats how i feel about capri with kameez.
Okay, I have to be honest...capris in my opinion seldom look elegant. Thats not to say they never do but very rarely do I see an outfit that looks its best with capris...most outfits that come with capris look better with pants, trousers, shalwars, churidaar pajamas, ajars, wide leg pants, etc.
For mayuns and mehndis the traditional outfits look best...not from a conservative POV but even aesthetically speaking...just looks prettier.
i have worn trousers and capris in my life (till 3 years ago) .. but i am so over them. nothing better (and comfortable) than a good old shalwar (not the kind which are made with half a yard of cloth though).
and on a mehndi ... churidaars look cutest. and i do agree with the rest ... dont make them (your capris) too short ...
ok im no angel but capri's is the worst so called "modern" hoop la that pakistani designers have transformed the simple but elegant shalwar kameez into jst cos "times have changed"...i know shalwars can be a pain...but trousers are fine.....i jst dont get why pakistani women wana wear a long kameez, and duppatta and then bear their ugly legs????? do u bear ur legs in western wear aswell ie: skirts, shorts, etc etc?
i know this place doesnt like islamic fundamentals linked with bridal wear but seriously i dont get it...
neway jst thats jst me....if ur family is "modern" and let u wear capri's then go for it... :) god bless....
the just bride thought it would be easier for people to put haldi/ubtan on her if she chose to wear capris, hence the question. The brides have to fold up their sleeves and painchas for that if they wear regular shalwar kameez.
