Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi speakers often don't get free verse. They call it tukkay-bazzi. You can call it anything. But the modern poetry in the Western world is almost entirely written in free verse these days. India and Pakistan will catch up with it later, I suppose, not too far distant in the future.

I have read many "aazaad manzoom" of Amjad Islam Amjad, Perveen Shakir, Noshi Gilani and so many others...
The term in urdu poetry is refered to as "aazaad shaairy" or "nasa'riya shaairi"
waisaY aap kee nazam paRh kar issay "Tanziya shaairi" kahaa jaanaa chaahiye :D
