i know there is no maids/gardener concept in west…but those who are quite rich are they also work them selves(house chores) ?
Re: maid/gardener
People do have maids in USA. Its not that uncommon and you dont have to be very rich. There are many families I know where the cleaning lady comes 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours. Its like 10 dollars an hour or so.
People also have landscaping services, quite common here. Many people with big front or back yards have someone comes every 15 days to cut their grass. That is also not expensive, around 50 dollars a trip.
For the most part, people do their own housework and yardwork.
But, it is also not unheard of for middle income families to have someone come in to provide weekly cleaning service or lawncare and if you've got the money and the desire, live-in nanny/housekeepers are also available.
The only difference between here and back home, is that the live-in nanny/housekeeper is not obligated to work more than 40 hours a week unless he/she gets paid overtime because of the labour laws.

Yes they do. :)
Shopping, grocery, cooking, cleaning, dishwashing or whatever, is commonly done.
Most people do it some do not.
Re: maid/gardener
hmm intresting....
Where I live it's not unusual to have a gardener and/or a part-time cleaner and I know quite a few ppl in London who have an au pair to help out with the kids, esp if Mum works.. Like someone already mentioned it isn't that expensive, just that a lot of ppl feel there isn't generally so much of a need cos dishwashers, cookers, microwaves, washers and dryers make life comparatively easy in the West and ppl by nature over here tend to be more independent.. I've just come back to the UK from 'bk home' and tbh I found it a bit irritating having someone do almost everything from making the beds to driving us around..
When our cleaner comes round she's under strict instructions not to do my bedroom/bathroom cos apart from the fact that I enjoy tidying up my own stuff I'm also quite a private person and the thought of someone else going in and out of my room and sorting thru my stuff isn't something I feel that comfortable with..
Re: maid/gardener
bah, the topic had me intrigued but it turned out to be a diff thing...

Re: maid/gardener
I thougt the same as X2.
It is very expensive to have a live in domestic help. But hiring a maid or maid service on a weekly basis just for cleaning your house is not so expensive. Same with gardner.
Maids and gardners are not that expensive in West.
