Pakistan sacks National security adviser
Islamabad, Jan 7 (IANS) Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has sacked the country’s National security adviser Mahmud Ali Durrani, Geo TV reported Wednesday.Gilani said Durrani had given a statement to an Indian news channel regarding Ajmal Kasab, the lone Pakistani terrorist arrested for the Mumbai attacks, without taking him into confidence.
The prime minister said Durrani’s statement had tarnished the country’s image.

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) – Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has sacked National Security Adviser Mehmud Ali Durrani, local television reported on Wednesday.
Gilani told the private Geo TV channel that Durrani had given a statement to an Indian news channel regarding the lone Mumbai attacker Ajmal Kasab without taking Gilani into confidence.
Reports said Durrani first disclosed that Ajmal Kasab is a Pakistani national.
Pakistan's foreign ministry confirmed later that Kasab is a Pakistani national.
Gilani said Durrani's statement had tarnished the country's image.
Kasab was captured after November's terrorist attacks on Mumbai, which killed more than 170 people. Reports said earlier that the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had identified Kasab as a Pakistani national, which Pakistan had denied.

So the guy who Prime Minister Gillani fired yesterday was a 'stooge', and a remnant from the previous dictatorship, whose supposed appointment was done under western influence. As soon as the otherwise weak and puppet Prime Minister Gillani for the first time did something worthy, they now sent their safeer sitting in Islamabad to Zardari, and now Zardari's having a one on one meeting with Gillani because he wasnt taken into confidence with this move. This is called 'pitho-ism', and this was what Musharraf was famous for. Unfortunately Zardari is playing the same exact game now. It's another Junejo Zia like confrontation in the making.

Good you seem to have updated on the latest news ..... but i dont understand why was he removed .... if the government has NOW claimed that Qasab is a Pakistani .... then why was he sacked !!!!!! I mean if they had denied the claim, then i can understand .... but if they agree with what he said, then why fire him. Or is it that it was to send a message to the Americans .....

Stooge from the previous government !!!!!! whew thank god they found that out ..... The PM is very smart ....no one knew it ... but as soon as he found out he "fried" him. Kudos to the PM .....
Now what about Sherry .... was she speaking with PM's permission and hopefully she is not a stooge from the past ... after all she was in "the" march with the PM ..... he sure will remember that.

He was fired for telling the truth before the Pak government could come up with some more lame excuses, and embarassing the government.

Please appriciate a good move,It was not question of truth or lie,It was only a matter of over reacting with American support. A matter of fact that we could never perform well due to without merit selected beuorocracy and induction of ever unfit army personals.
