Jayawardene to step down

Mahela Jayawardene has announced that he will resign as Sri Lanka captain after the upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan. The decision, announced on Wednesday, comes three days after Sri Lanka lost to India 4-1 in their ODI series at home.

Wow…what a series loss can do…first it was Malik after losing to Sri Lanka and now its Jayawardene after losing to India.

According to our obese and good for nothing PCB Chairman... Mr. Ejaz 'Moo Phat' Butt...Malik resigned but told the PCB not announce his resignation untill the new captain is appointed.

So technically Malik resigned...but we all knew he was going to be replaced... but Malik will never admitt that and will say that he resigned for the sake of the team.

too bad. Mahela was a good captain and enjoyed good record. May be he did this to concentrate on his personal performance

It would be stupid to appoint Jayasuria the captain when his retiring days are ahead. Sangakara would be a better captain so he can get some experience ahead of the next world cup.

I guess sangakara. I dont think they will make Jaysuria captain again. he has missed the bus

It was right time for him so he can focus more on his game as he is in a lean patch. Sangakarra would be a good captain also. He has been VC for a while.

Sangakara should be captain and Dilshan should be VC.

I guess the burden of being batsmen, keeper n captain at same time ... was too much for him
