Magic in Islam

AOA everyone,

Can someone tell me what is the position Islam takes on magic? My friend and I went to a magic & fun shop last weekend and we got some really cool stuff..and we were just entertaining some of our co-workers, when one of my Muslim colleagues got up and started scolding us about using Magic, saying that we should not do this becoz it is haraam, and because it deceives people, and sets up rivals to Allah..

My stance on this is that we were not doing anything supernatural!! and the people we were showing the magic tricks to were fairly intelligent folks who could figure out that the tricks were based on science or probability, and no one was about to worship us

he did not provide any hadiths, rather just cited some Sheikh or the other who apparently had said that magic was haraam.

thanks..

Re: Magic in Islam

Are you and your friend planning on becoming “The Charmed Ones” ?

walikum assalam :jhanda:

all i know is dudet that black magic (kala jaduuu) is jaram in islam, so i
don’t know if pulling little magic tricks counts under this category. work it out for u self plz…

may peace be with you

thanks, Majestic, you’re a great help :smash:

insolent, yea, i don’t think harmless fun is haram in Islam, the man is jsut sour-milk when it comes to having a little fun

tell him that ur not doing 'magic' but 'illusions'

there's a BIG difference between the two

magic is impossible, whereas illusions are just tricks as you say based on science or prbability...

Nescio, better still, i will just turn him into a rabbit!!! :hehe:
