sure! no one disagrees with that. I have my heart out for it if it is being addressed properly, fairly and uniformly accross every cross section of society.

If the government has found some proofs, it should bring them up, try the accused in the court and punish him. The whole Muslim population will be in favour of punishing the culprit, whether it be a person from a Madrassah or anyone else. Its true that if a Muslim scholar (I am not using the word ‘Mullah’) does it than he should be dealt with more strictly, since he is the one who is supposed to be what he preaches. We definitely need to get rid of such black sheeps from our religious people.

However, justice demands that the govt should also take care of the other places where this happens.

And this is not a new thing in Pakistan. Have you guys ever heard about what goes on in Peshawar and other parts of NWFP, aka londaybazi? I hope there is some ‘sincere’ effort to curb this disease.

P.S. I don’t understand why Dr. Farooq Sattar, another MQM leader, has spoken up against Amer Liaquat Hussain’s allegations. They belong to the same party. So, there is something fishy there.

Frankly, Liaqat, as much as he loves to sing naats on TV that make me want to throw a brick at it, is the only one I see that is making the ATTEMPT to bring wrong-doers to punishment.

JUst as a side note........child abuse is very common in some of private cadet colleges...those giving fatwa against mullahs with out much proof ( and even if some mentaly sick person does that it is his personal action and not the whole Aalim community be blamed for this.....)

MAdressa( i wish you all can visit some madressa - like darul uloom karachi or binory town ) you will see how haya those students have in thier eyes.....i some time while returning back from office just vist binory town to see young students doing tasbeehat in the *sehan/veranda * of the masjid.....

just closing eyes that its just allegations wont help anybody.. true; child abuse happens everywhere but when cathilic priests do taht its an big issue.. like wise when imams are caught doing that its a big issue.. custodians of our morality are bound to have examplary attitude and behavoir..

as there are vast majority of madrassas with great people there are scums too.. who do that abuse day after day.. everyone knows it.. these scoundrels are sometimes caught red handed but mostly get away as its a tabboo in our society to just mention the topic.. its time that victims come forward and these culprits given examplary punishment so that this is minimized..

well if it's happening at one madrassa it's probably happening at more. I'm just glad this is being publicized so people are aware of it, we only know of 500 complaints..im betting there were a LOT of people who didnt report anything.

The issue here is not that the place was a madrasaa, but that is was a trusted institution for education, therefore its shockingly sad that something so horrible as child abuse has taken place there.Lets all act like adults and not start at how every madrassa has problems and issues of child abuse. Because we all know that is not the case. It happened in one, does not mean it happens in every other madrasaa.So leave the mullahs out of it and try to understand (Im sure its close to impossible) that it was one sick individual. Not all are sick mullas. There are sick individuals in every group of people. Lets not try to forget that.

I hope that steps are taken to punish these people who abuse children and I hope steps are taken to prevent any future cases. Publicity is good, but one wishes there was a limit to the amount of idiots.

it doesnt really have anything to do with being an adult. i think we can assume that if it happens at one, it must be happening at more. Not only that, but the rate of homosexual/molesting young kids is increasing in Pakistan, esp. in the rural areas and that would also include beastiality

I am dying to read: " A man was raped and left naked in a park- all the female religious leaders took action..." - ah there would be honor killing sister would be killing her brother since he got raped and took away dignity of his family.
