Madrassah

Re: Madrassah

I would never send my kids to any religious school to be brainwashed or abuse by some priest or mullah.

Re: Madrassah

:k:

Tariq Jameel Sahab is a phenomenal person. I guess we need more aalims like him to give back islam its much due softer look.

Re: Madrassah

And why must you think you are not?

What prevents you from giving back Islam it’s much needed softer look?

Re: Madrassah

Good question. I have my strengths, and he has his. I am a great engineer that he is not, but he is a great aalim that I am not. Plus it all depends upon the circle of influence. He has a much much bigger circle of influence than mine, so same message that he can pass in his one bayaan would probably take me many years to pass to the similar number of people - and even then, would I be that effective as him? No, because he has much higher credibility when it comes to the knowledge of Islam than me. Of course if the lecture is about Engineering properties of isotropic materials, I have more credibility than him

Re: Madrassah

The thought of you believing religious Islamic schools brainwash and abuse kids, is in itself a statement of you being super insensitive and deprived of any religion and/or any real life wisdom.

Re: Madrassah

I apologize but that just proves you’re a phenomenal person yourself, it’s just not in the field where Tariq Jameel sahab shines.

On second thought, I’d be lying to myself saying I haven’t seen folks shine in multiple fields though.

But I am not a phenomenal person. Just good in my profession :frowning:

Re: Madrassah

i would never send my kids to any place of religious brainwashing.

Re: Madrassah

I’m sure he’s taken Islam as one of his professions too, or perhaps turned it into his only profession at a later date. Who knows what else he is good at apart from learning and spreading what he does today.

Re: Madrassah

Only if you were an Atheist.

I don’t get this, you ask any believer what his/her religion is and they’ll be courteous enough to mention it to you. But you folks, no admittance/acceptance.

Re: Madrassah

Have you ever, ever, ever been to a madrassah?

Re: Madrassah

no, never been to one. but i have also never been to jail either, doesn’t mean it can be a good place right?
besides, i have seen enough people being brainwashed by religion that i wouldn’t want it for my children. Im not saying that no one should, I simply stated that I wouldn’t.

Re: Madrassah

Great comparison.

Re: Madrassah

No, I wouldn’t send my (future) kids to a madrassah..

I see religion more as a personal thing..

Re: Madrassah

Enough personal that it prevents you to mention what the name of the said religion is?

Re: Madrassah

.

Re: Madrassah

I went to a madrassah for some time, but that was only to learn supara. I hated my teacher. He used to hit me and then laughed when I cried. Fun times.
I would send my kid to a madrassah only to learn Arabic.

Re: Madrassah

I remember trying to skip a page of the Quran when I was little hoping maulana sahab wont see, got hit by a ruler semi-hard. Didn’t do it again. Fun times indeed.
