Macaroni with flour

I have read some macaroni recipes online in which they put plain flour, anyone knows what’s the reason of adding plain flour? And, I am not talking about baked macaroni/pasta.

Re: Macaroni with flour

^ Could the flour be part of the roux?

Re: Macaroni with flour

No, you are suppose to add it while frying chicken.

Usually helps to thicken whatever sauce is being made. If they add any liquid, it will help thicken it.

Re: Macaroni with flour

Flour + butter makes a roux (thickening agent)....add milk to make a sauce base....add shredded cheese to make the cheese sauce....add the macaroni (boiled till al dente)...that is how macaroni and cheese is made, it's a staple in the South.

Re: Macaroni with flour

Huh? What does this have to do with macaroni? :konfused:
