Well, its a nice little box (which comes without any monitor, keyboard and mouse) and is a full fledged computer. I have attached to my TV and that’s where my movies are. I use it as my media center PC and everything plays from there.

So you sit on your couch and remote control it to turn on your choice of movie.
What would be another purpose, especially since you don’t have a monitor/keyboard/mouse? Could you attach it to a monitor/TV and use it for browsing the Internet for example?
Or is it more like a “server?”

Its a normal desktop computer, that’s it. You can connect your own monitor, keyboard and mouse. Its like any other branded desktop computer from HP/Dell, but with Apple OSX instead of Windows for operating System. Yup, it does looks cute and great as HTPC (Home Theater PC).

Ok so I just configured one on Apple’s website . With mouse, Keyboard , and DVI adapter it will end up at around $796.00. Now if you’ll add a monitor to it by Apple then $796 + $999 = $1796 .
I would say just buy MacBook unless you don’t want to use it as a server .

It is space saving…I mean if you have a monitor already or if you’re planning to hook it up with a HDMI cable, then really it’s so little compared to a laptop/computer.

I think the best use of Mac Mini is Media Server as you already have a TV so you dont need to add another $999 for a high def display.
Off course you need a wireless keyboard and touchpad.
