Since my old desktop computer has pretty much reached the end of its life, I am considering getting a new one. I am looking at the Mac Mini for 2 reasons:
I want to switch from MS to Apple.
I like the concept of having a small Desktop Computer that doesn’t take up too much space.
However the current model of the Mac Mini has been around for almost 1 1/2 years so I guess Apple will announce a new model soon. I was actually hoping it would be launched on the sidelines of the iPhone 5 launch, but that did not happen.
Mac Mini’s have been around for a lot longer than 1.5 years. I have one that I use as my media center PC. I got that one in 2006 or early 2007. They are real computers that don’t come with anything else but the box and power supply (atleast mine didn’t). So no keyboard/mouse/screen. MacOS is the same as the rest of Macs. Let me know if you have a specific question.
Mac minis are awesome. I would say that go with wireless keyboard and trackpad so there is very little cable clutter, as unlike a PC desktop, you dont have much space behind mac mini to hide cables.
NO, I am not, but they are great. Just like TB, unless I buy it as media center, I would not use a mac mini without Apple’s original monitor, in which case, I rather go with iMac
Hehe. Have been posting again for the last couple of days. It’s fun.
I know Mac Minis have been around for much longer. But the current model (in terms of technical specs) has been around for 1.5 years now. So I guess a new version could be announced any day, since there has been an update almost every year in the past. Gonna wait for that.
Good idea. Thanks.
Any issue using it with a regular monitor or an HDTV?
No issues, I was just saying it from aesthetic sense - but HDTV is a not a regular computer monitor so I wont use HDTV as a primary monitor for mac mini (unless of course you are using it as media center)
I have one at office and pretty nice small thing that you can put on your desk instead of underneath it other than that its just Mac . . . my main experience is with Xcode and I hate the fact that you have to freaken pay for everything in Apple’s world .
